The brokeyest broke state in the nation (which means it is also one of the brokeyest broke entities in the world, as it has the worlds 8th largest economy) has long served as the place where the far left has conducted field experiments for their policies. Hows that working out? Neil Munro tells us
(Daily Caller) The Golden State has fallen on hard times, with a poverty rate that is now twice as bad as West Virginias and substantially worse than the rates of poverty in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas.
Democrat-run California earned its last-place rank under the federal governments new measure of poverty, which incorporates more detailed analyses of welfare payments and the local costs of food, gasoline and housing. (View the new census data report)
The states costs are boosted by its environmental and workplace regulations, and by 38 million residents competition for housing close to the sea.
Hooray, theyre #1, theyre #!!!!!1!!!! Im betting they really want to lean on the liberal trope that there are no winners and losers, so everyone should get a blue ribbon for competing.
The new measure, dubbed the Supplemental Poverty Measure, revised the Californias poverty rate from 16.3 percent up to 23.5 percent.
The report estimates that roughly 8.8 million people in California were poor during between 2009 and 2011, when Democrats controlled the state legislature and governorship, as well as the White House. (snip)
The new measure supplants a poverty gauge developed in the 1960s. It incorporates the economic impact of welfare programs, transportation and child-care costs, changes in child-rearing practices especially the impact of single parents raising kids plus differences in the regions average prices and health care costs.
This is all despite the large number of lefties working in the entertainment and tech industries, making boodles of money and refusing to give back. A large number of 1%ers failing to help the 99%ers.
The massive influx of illegal aliens sure doesnt help. Theyve caused many southern California emergency rooms to shut down, and approximately one third of the California prison population is comprised of illegals. Then you add in the progressive nanny state policies and high taxes, the job killing uber-environmental policies, support of unions policies, and other workplace policies, and you end up with Brokeifornia having the worst poverty rate. Congratulations!
Lets give them a 'path to citizenship' and all the taxpayer subsidized goodies that come with it. Thats the ticket
You won’t hear any complaints from me if the so called entertainment industry goes belly up. Actors and actresses clearly make way too much. It isn’t fair.
Tax Hollyweird!
"We just thank God that we don't suffer like those poor fools in Califernia"
The blue cancer metastasizes yet again. CO used to be my #1 “gonna move there someday” state. Stinking Californicators.
Liberalism run amok.
Yup, take a good look America. This will be you within the decade.
“The b***h of it is we had a huge influx of Californians into Colorado in recent years”
Don’t panic. The Californicators are just stopping to gas up their beaten up 1975 Mazeratis. They’ll soon leave their make shift camps to head for legendary home of their ancestors, a place called Oklahoma, to find work picking peanuts.
I remember a bumper sticker from the seventies - “Don’t Californicate Oregon”.
There are #1!!! Yes... You did it, LIBS...Congratulation!!
Send more actors.
Yep, all you have to do is see what they did to Washington and Oregon. That is Colorado’s future. At first it will be from Denver north to Ft. Collins, then when the cost of living is too high they will try to infect Colorado Springs.
Wyoming is a good choice, but Cheyenne and Laramie, due to their proximity to Colorado, may soon get infected, if they aren’t already. Jackson Hole is a “hole” due to wealthy liberals infestation. Unless you are tied to Denver-Ft. Collins corridor due to work, I’d head for Gillette or Cody.
