They want to discourage cars, period. They want everyone on trains, buses or bikes -- or best of all, on foot.

That's part of the message. California has been wasting many thousands of dollars in the last couple years converting auto lanes to bicycle paths. They take two lanes in each direction and downsize that to one lane for autos. The bicycle paths are seldom in use.

I've got several cars, but will downsize. Lots of people doing this will decrease the amount of registration fees collected. Unintended consequences. Hike taxes, get less money collected.

Another indication of the decline of our standard of living to meet that of Red Chinese peasants; the auto lanes will be for politicians and the government workers they hand out the freebies to...
