....In David Petraeus’s final days at the helm of the Central Intelligence Agency, his relations with chiefs of other U.S. agencies, including his boss, National Intelligence Director James Clapper, took a contentious turn.
Mr. Petraeus wanted his aides to push back hard and release their own timeline of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi and a nearby CIA safe house, seeking to set the record straight and paint the CIA’s role in a more favorable light. Mr. Clapper and agencies including the Pentagon objected, but Mr. Petraeus told his aides to proceed, said the senior officials.
By all accounts, the driving force behind Mr. Petraeus’s departure last Friday was the revelation about his extramarital affair with his biographer. But new details about Mr. Petraeus’s last days at the CIA show the extent to which the Benghazi attacks created a climate of interagency finger-pointing. That undercut the retired four-star general’s backing within the Obama administration as he struggled with the decision to resign....

This also sheds some light on stories surfacing today that the interim CIA Director will testify that there were no requests for military backup from Benghazi.

Isn’t this in direct contradiction to what the people on the ground in Benghazi said? They said they asked three times and were denied and told to stand down. The news reports were very clear about this and presumably those sources are still out there.

Fox is reporting that Petraeus was pushed out because he wouldn’t go along with the WH’s time line.
I was thinking the same exact thing. 0bama ordered the FBI to go out and confiscate documents that are evidence of his cover-up. If this is the case EVERYONE in the FBI should be ashamed of themselves. They’re ALL complicit in a cover-up if they do this. Hopefully, this is not the case.

And there were over 30 people at the “consulate,” more at the “annex,” and also the agency guys who arrived from Tripoli.
Not only have we not heard from these people, other than the four who died, we don't even know their names.
Maybe some friggin’ enterprising reporter who'd like to make a name for himself could find out that info and talk to one of these people!
Or maybe, just maybe, some of them will testify at all these hearing. But as far as I know, I've not heard one single mention of anybody who was there actually testifying before congress.

Anyone at Benghazi was likely on covert mission and sworn to secrecy. That’s a problem and would only be divulged in closed hearings. It’s conceivable (BUT HIGHLY UNLIKELY DUE TO HIS BLACK TEFLON COATING) That 0bama could get impeached for reasons we’re not even allowed to know. I suppose it would come out anyway, but a closed hearing could do more damage to him than an open one.

I still can’r figure out why the “Consulate” was so big and then there was even an “Annex” a mile away with several large buildings. That seems like a lot of real estate for the US to have in Benghazi of all places. I wonder why they needed all that space?

There is confusion about that. I heard it as: THE CIA, meaning headquarters, did not make any requests for military backup for Benghazi. That stops things at the CIA and covers Obama's a** and the Pentagon's.
There have been many stories that there were requests for backup from personnel in Benghazi, maybe too many to deny.
And then there was this statment from the CIA on October 26:
"No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate."

That is where fox is getting their info. They have someone that was on the ground. My guess is the families have talked to people also.
Let us pray that Petraeus tells the TRUTH when he testifies.... open this story up wide. Of course if no one else will back it up, they’ll claim it is just sour grapes over being pressured to resign over the affair (if he even had one).
The CIA talking points reported by CBS as given to the White House do not match Rice’s talking points that she used in the five Sunday interviews. In those interviews she claimed that the best intelligence was that it was a fact that there was no terrorist attack and she omitted all of the caveats and conditional phrasing seen below on that point.
Implication: The White House substituted its own exculpatory talking points for the CIA talking points but claimed that the WH points came from the CIA unchanged.

The CIA’s talking points read as follows:
“The currently available information suggests that the demonstrations in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the US Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the US diplomatic post in Benghazi and subsequently its annex. There are indications that extremists participated in the violent demonstrations.
This assessment may change as additional information is collected and analyzed and as currently available information continues to be evaluated.
The investigation is on-going, and the US Government is working with Libyan authorities to bring to justice those responsible for the deaths of US citizens.”
Given that the whole thing was live-streaming on video, audio and radio and cell phone communications the lack of a formal request is no excuse for not sending a rescue mission. The need should have been obvious.

1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.

2) No rescue mission was attempted.

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.
Last night Greta said that she knew of one of those people still in Bethesda recovering from injuries. A couple of things struck me about that. She said she knew of ONE and she mentioned no name and seemed to have no curiosity about talking to that person or any of the other 37 who were evacuated to Tripoli and then Lunstdahl (sp?) hospital in Germany.

Thanks for that link. I saw Admiral Lyons on another show a week or so ago. He made many of the same points but that interview was greatly expanded. Admiral Lyons is a real commander. 130 Force Recon Marines is one heck of a force to reckon with. It has also been said that a Delta Force team that specializes in extractions was ready to go at Sigonella. Those Marines could have been their backup to shield the extraction force. 0bama has no excuses.

Well, If I understand it correctly, the former seals were working for a private security firm, (Blue Mountain). Therefore, their boss would be their superior in the security firm - not the CIA or Pentagon.

But any military assistance they might have received would not have come from their security firm employer. Any request for assistance would had to have gone to the CIA, or some military command.
The statement concerning what the acting CIA director would testify to was fairly vague: that the CIA did not ask for any military assistance, no specificity as to what CIA location, but some commentators interpreted it to be CIA headquarters.
Maybe it has been made more clear somewhere today.

Yes, that’s my point. The initial and subsequent reports did NOT say who gave the stand down order, so it could have been CIA, State Dept., Military, or the Security firm.
We also don’t know if the order came from someone on site or elsewhere.
It seems logical to me, that if you were providing security, under attack and needed backup, that the seals might have called their superiors @ Blue Mountain at the same time the diplomats contacted State, and CIA operatives went up the CIA chain of command.
Bottom line, someone told them to stand down, we don’t know who. Help was requested, but we don’t know from which of the several agencies. Nor do we know what happened on the receiving end.
For a long time my wife talked about how she couldn’t stand her and I didn’t see what the problem was. Then I started paying close attention and I started to see the ego and how she’s really in love with herself. My wife also pointed out MegYn’s crooked nose. Now that’s all I see.

Where did you hear the retired seals worked for Blue Mountain? From the reports I saw blue mountain’s staff were all locals.
Blue Mountain is reportedly a British firm. Last report I saw stated it was a firm that specialized in pop star celebrity security, not embassy security.
Of course, the only other Blue Mountain company I know of sells greeting cards.
