Egypt asks US to stop Israel's Gaza offensive, warning of 'out of control' escalation

CAIRO – Egypt asked the United States to push Israel to stop its offensive against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, warning that the violence could "escalate out of control," the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton late the night before, asking for "immediate U.S. intervention to stop the Israeli aggression," the ministry said in a statement. The call came after Egypt recalled its ambassador to Israel to protest the offensive.

Shove your pyramids up your smelly Obamas, Egypt.

As if any sane person listens to a country run by Islamists.

Live it, love it, and shove it.

Good One!

muslime terrorists in gaza, hiding behind civilians, launch hundreds of anti-personel rockets into Israel, recently destroying an apartment and killing 3 Israelis, but the US needs to stop Israel for returning fire.

Actually, IMHO, for every rocket that lands in Israel, Israel should launch 100 rockets into gaza, destination be damned. Simple, cheap, unguided rockets. Let them detonate where they impact. The simple fact is that the gazans elected a known terrorist group, dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews throughout the world, so they got the “government” they wanted. Now they’ll just have to live (and die) with it.

I don’t see the Egyptian Military High Command going along with Morsi’s cabal if the IB cohorts in the Egyptian Executive and Legislative branches declare war on Israel.

Egypt declares war on Israel and Egypt’s currency and government debt will collapse in value, instantly, permanently, and for at least a generation. No fuel, no bread, no medicine, for over 70% of the population, within 20 days.

The hypothetical string of events necessary to see Egypt start a war is ridiculous,...
If The IB depose the Egyptian military High Command,
and push tanks across Sinai,
and the tanks won’t make it to Gaza,
and the Aswan dam will be destroyed, removing the domestic grain production for a growing season or up to 2 years in some parts.
And the country would collapse.

Purely symbolic gesture though,
Morsi has nothing to offer besides a few tractor trailers of food and blankets, a few kind words, and some random verses of the Haditha to rally the spirit of the Gazans. Not going to do any more than that.

Morsi will return to Cairo, to his mansion, have a full meal and sleep in a comfy bed the same night.

America is now officially a communist country because more than half the country wants handouts, government run, babies killed on demand, homosexual marriage and no God. They listen to every crappy piece of propaganda coming out of the communist democrats lips. They elected a muslim sympathizer who gets aggravated when he has to deal with Israel. Prayer - no - Miracles are needed for America and Israel. No matter how we feel about Israel, it won’t matter because Obama has the last word and we can thank ignorance and greed for that. Sorry, to rant but my head is about to explode.

Can anyone link me to one call for the Arabs on the West Bank and in Gaza to show restraint from Egypt? How about Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Libya, or the U. N...

The Arabs hurl in rocket after rocket, and the world remains mute. Israel finally has enough and responds, and all of a sudden it’s an imperitive that it shows restraint.

This was my major beef against Bush/Powell/Rice during his administration.

No nation on this planet would allow it’s citizens to be attacked constantly for years without responding.

FoxNews just had a moron broadcasting from the Middle-East live who talked of Israeli escalation.

The bias is just revolting.

I do find the Egyptian call for the U. S. to get involved to cause Israel to show restraint, to be rather interesting.

It’s short of using military power. It’s short of making more threats.

This doesn’t preclude those being used, but it seems a more reasoned approach, to an unreasonable expectation.

This is all going to Israeli plans, if the Israelis were to make a sneak attack on Iranian nuclear facilities they would be attacked on all fronts, at the same time. So by taking out the Hamas leader, the Israelis knew that they would be attacked by the Palestinian, Syrian, Lebanese or Egyptian forces. In the end, The Palestinian (and anyone else) will uses themselves up and be a spent force when the main attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities take place. The Israelis can then defend themselves with fresh forces against the Iranian counter attack. Just something to think about.

That's thinking small.

"Modern" Egypt would be delighted to return to that Egypt of old before the atheist Russians imposed a damned dam on them. The annual floods were just fine for the Egyptian caliphate.

Think bigger.

Think re-establishing the Nile's ancient flow.

Think the Nile flowing west across the Sahara to the Atlantic!
