Why Mitt Romney Deserved To Lose The Election
Forbes ^ | 11/15/2012

In an article published in 2001, Jude Wanniski, the author of The Way the World Works, noted that since 1896, only Republican presidential candidates running on “pro-growth” platforms have won. Republicans advocating “austerity” have invariably lost. With the defeat of Mitt Romney, the election of 2012 continued this pattern, with one addition. Republican presidential candidates offering clueless confusion also lose.

Democracies tend to evolve two political parties, a party of economic growth and a party of income redistribution. If a credible plan for economic growth is offered, the people will vote for it, provided that it does not involve crushing the poorest and weakest members of society. If not, they will vote for income redistribution, in an effort to assure that everyone survives so that they can enjoy the fruits of economic growth, if and when political leaders emerge who understand how to produce it.

If the American electorate decides that income redistribution is the best that is available during an election season, they will vote Democrat. The Democrats long ago nailed down the redistribution (a.k.a., “fairness”) position. This leaves the Republicans the choice between being pro-growth (while also being non-threatening), or losing. In 2012, Mitt Romney and many, many other Republican candidates collapsed into clueless confusion and lost.

Mitt Romney became the Republican nominee because Herman Cain, the only true pro-growth candidate in the primary race that was actually competent to do the job of president, self-destructed over personal issues. However, once Romney had sewed up the nomination, supply-siders started projecting their hopes onto him, and ignoring what he was actually saying and doing.

"This election was not about Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. This election was about the nation and liberty. The nation lost."

Wrong and right. The nation lost during the primary when the GOP elite assumed they could coerce the votes of Christian Conservatives for a man who demonstrably governed to the left of Bill Clinton.

Because Romney is a draft dodger, anti-gun, pro abortion, creator of O'Romney care, appointer of liberal judges, and a cult leader with a lifetime's training in how to lie, I wrote in George Washington and walked away with a clear conscience.

I will not vote for evil, period. All men are imperfect, ROMNEY IS EVIL. I stand on my convictions, with God, come what may.

Yeah, that’s just the ticket, *less righteousness* more reach around the aisle. Working out great so far.

Yeah, you’ve got a point. The RNC should drag all the Mormons out of their Palaces and burn them at the stake.

While we’re at it, let’s do the same for the Evil Rich. It’s because of them that Obama wasn’t able to build Utopia in his first Term.

Once the Evil Rich are eliminated, the Democrats won’t be able to accuse the Republicans for only caring about the Evil Rich.

Better yet, the Republicans should just do the right thing and drink the Jim Jones Kool Aid. The world will be a better place.

Romney,
McCain
Dole
Bush I
Dewey

ALL deserved to lose. The GOP establishment likes candidates like them, who have no vision and stand for little.

You can add the 1960 version of Nixon, who completely snubbed the the rapidly growing conservative faction of the GOP. In 1968, he learned his lesson and won the presidency by pretending to be a conservative.

“I wonder how this ideal “pro growth” candidate would get his “pro growth” message to the electorate? Through the media? Riiiight. And what percentage of the electorate would even understand the concept of growth based economics? For this article to be accurate, the media would be neutral and informative and the electorate intelligent. Good luck with that.”

Very well stated.

Remember, “it’s the economy, stupid!” ??

That don’ work no mo’.

When close to 50% (or even slightly over) no longer need to be part of the “working person’s economy” to exist, what difference does “the economy” make to them, even if they could understand?

To them, the economy is EBT, Section 8, and free cell phones.

This election was about something far more important than the economy.

The Republicans failed to perceive this, refused to address it — and lost.

I predict that they will continue to lose if they don’t wake up and get with it.

Particularly in 2014...

And why not? What does his religion have to do with him taking the seat away from an avowed socialist and enemy of the United States of America?

There are all kinds of idolatries. None are to be trusted. Most people these days, probably think that economics and nationalism are more important than theology but most people are wrong.

“The election was lost because single females were not pro growth. They wanted their birth control pills so a baby wouldn’t grow.”

Yup.

Enter the new “ladyparts voter” contingent (I claim credit for that term).

Obama won ‘em to the tune of 68% or so.

They aren’t going away. My guess is that short of a few “mid-life conversions”, once a female has become a ladyparts voter, she is always going to vote that way.

we testify that Christ is the living Son of the living God

You're lying and you know it. In your cult, Jesus is just one of many sons of God, and you believe someday you'll be a god as well.

And for you to call me bigoted simply because I call you what you are is like Jesse Jackson calling me prejudiced simply because I think affirmative action is a scam.

I do know mormons and I doubt even they know what kind of evil you espouse. The doctrine of blood atonement. Secret and disgusting temple ceremonies that the con man Joseph Smith developed based on his fascination with the masonry. The Mountain Meadows massacre. Seriously? You want to go there?

It’s comparing that both Mormons and the Bible had rules that have been abandoned by modern humans.

What're you talking about, Mormons abandoned what rules? You make no sense whatsoever.

Further, no "humans" abandoned any rules in the Bible. Jesus Christ abolished the old law by fulfilling it on the cross. God decreed, not man, that the old law was no longer binding. We're under a new law of grace because Christ freed us from the old law.

You just don't know what you're talking about.

The position of President of America was not designed to be an elected idol.

Theology may be the most important part of a persons spiritual being, but people do not need to elect a president to nurture their spiritual beliefs.

We were electing a President, not a Pastor.

Here are your own words...
“the fact that he belongs to a man-made cult that until the mid 1970s refused to allow blacks full membership”

Mormons no longer forbid full membership to blacks. That is the abandoned rule I am talking about.

As for you insisting no ancient Godly rules have been abandoned by modern man, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Mormons also believe that Jesus and Satan are “Spirit brothers”.

You’re right. Cain didn’t self destruct. He was targeted and attacked. They would not have stopped manufacturing trysts until he was gone. And now we know it was a precursor of the theme they wanted campaign on — republicans are bad for women. So even if he had stayed, their attacks would have fit their overall strategy against republicans.

I'm glad someone is keeping a tally on the fraud, but I'm not sure how much good it will do. After all, what has happened to those involved with Fast and Furious? I'm willing to bet that not much will come of Benghazigate either, except that Petraeus, someone on the outside of the 0bama mob, has been selected as the "Designated Fall Guy". The treasonous acts of 0bama, Panetta and klinton will go unpunished.

As for the fraud, I haven't heard anything about the party itself even raising a peep. Col West appears to be the only person willing to stand up to dims. I want him to be the candidate in 2016!

This of him as a "minister"

Romans 13:4

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Also, exit polls showed that about half the voters still blamed George W. Bush for the lousy economy. How do you combat such a large amount of ignorance? Romney ran a half-hearted campaign and shoulders a big part of the blame for this defeat but we also have a large segment of the population that wants to be taken care of by the government entitlement system. I think even Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum would have also had an uphill struggle to win the presidency with nearly half of the electorate against them before any vote was cast.
