I know it’s everyones hearts desire right now to castigate Carl Rove but what he’s saying here is right.
Let me translate into non Turd Blossom language we all can understand:
1,GOTV
2. Don’t change our principles but sell them better
3. When you get hit, fight back
4. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot
Who disagrees with the above?
1. Project ORCA was an abject failure. Sorry Ann, but I doubt it’s the first time Mitt muffed something.
2. We cannot depend on frustrated liberals accidently tuning into Rush or that banging idiot Hannity to bring the powerful positive message of Conservatism to votes of all demographics.
3. “Bush Lied, People Died” was when this crap started. I was ashamed then that Bush didn’t fight back, and Mr. Rove is doubtless the reason. OK, we all screw up and we all learn from our mistakes. Rove gets it now, things have changed and we must challenge every time we get attacked.
4. Mourdock and Akin deserved to lose. If you can’t control your mouth I don’t want you anywhere near the US Congress. We need better candidates.
How can a serious candidate for senate not be ready to hit that question out of the ballpark?
As for demographics, we have a serious problem.
The worst thing about the idiocy Akin, and to a lesser extent Mourdock, babbled on about is just how many conservatives simply couldn't see how much damage these jokers were doing to their own campaigns and the Republican party. A large chunk of our party is living in a fantasy land that in no way resembles the way citizens react and vote in the real world. We even had a not insignificant number of conservatives who thought polls could be "unskewed".
You actually had conservatives even here on FR trying to sell the idea that Akin shouldn't drop out and that he could still win. The extent to which one has to wear blinders to not understand that Akin was finished once he droned on about women's bodies magically preventing pregnancy in cases of rape is...well...astonishing.
5. Bitch slap anyone who tries to become a sore loser when they fail to win the primary (Lugar-IN, Murkowski-AK).
6. Don’t take the base for granted and if you claim to be a “big tent” party don’t shove RNC rules down the delegate’s throats.
7. If you slap around West, Bachmann or Palin, etc., don’t expect me to defend/support you when you’re in a fix.
8. Don’t try to “out-Democrat” Democrats.
Yep, Rove pretty well sums up the high points. Rove's strengths are in GOTV; I'd rather see him raise and spend money in this area.
