So now they have gone on strike. Hostess has closed the plant and all are out of a job. Clearly they are better off, right? Continuing to provide additional funds to a union controlled pension fund is the same as making a contribution to Democratic (socialist) Party. Now all qualify for government food stamps and other government hand outs. They are set for a life in poverty. This is the Dems and Obama’s American dream.

Trying to generate some sympathy for union jobs lost by stupidity...NOPE, can’t do it...

Doesn't seem fair now that pot is legal in WA.

From Ding Dongs to big bongs...

Typical response from Union parasites.

If the Socialist bum didn’t like the work and pay....hey....the door is open to go find an employer and work that you enjoy......like the rest of the non-union workers do. He probably made $48,000 per year (+ bennies) watching twinkies go into an automatic packaging machine.

Someone will pick up the twinkies, but the ding dongs are probably gone for good.

Are you factoring in each current day"s layoffs, into your layoff list that you posted here? If so, would you message me the daily list or post them somewhere, so Freepers can update their list. I have been sending your list to my husband and friends by email, but I would like to keep it current. Thanks!

I do not like twinkles and hostess cupcakes that much. But they last forever and might be a fun break from our prepper food in the future. Think I will stock up.

If you dig around in the archives of americastestkitchen.com or cookscountry.com (or any others in that franchise) you can find a recipe for GOOD homemade "Hostess Cupcakes'.

One of the girls (Bridgett or Julia) made them from scratch, chocolate cake, cream filling, glossy brown frosting and accurate right down to the white "swirlie" on top.

Now, if we can only get one of the girls to synthesize twinkies...

I update it daily. I don't know how to best keep it in the public eye, and your sending it out is appreciated.

I have a date column which I don't include. Should I?

I also appreciate any new reports from anywhere.

Would there be a value to a plant/business closures block, even if the actual number of jobs lost can't be teased out of the announcement? I'm trying to avoid double counting people laid off, I want my chart to be an unquestionable best case (which is plenty bad enough!)

So far, nearly 42,000 since the election. At this rate that should be approximately 180,000 by Pearl Harbor Day.

And this only includes big company layoffs, not God only knows how many Mom'n'Pops letting go a waitress or two.

They can have my Ding Dong when they pry it from my cold, dead hands!

Um, sorry honey, please tell the preacher not to use that line at my funeral, and I swear I never laid a hand on my Ding Dong.

Hostess is done. They were going under before the election, and now they have no hope.

Sad.
