Our PM, deputy PM and leader of the opposition are of part-Jewish descent. So the only Middle Eastern religion with ‘any power’ is the one we here all like and admire: Judaism.
The only ethnic British politicians with any power are black from Christian Afro-Caribbean backgrounds and Sikh and Hindu politicians, like Keith Vaz. The only prominent current Muslim politician is a female Conservative Baroness who publicly attacks Islamic extremism and terrorism.

Muslims make up 0.9% of the Scottish population.
Also there has been no Islamic extremism and terrorism festering in Scotland, because the Scottish islamic community has been quick to come down hard on any extremism.
14 mosques sounds a lot, but many, if you check, are either actually community groups/centres or very small ‘mosques’. There is really only one or two major mosques in the city.
