Why admit to adultery, thus exposing his wife and children to ridicule,
Ridicule? I think they are looked upon with pity. I bet the wife stays with him.
I probably should have said “embarrassment.”
The point remains. By admitting adultery, he removed the leverage others may have been holding over him.
Unless, of course, there’s more we don’t yet know.
