A shot across the bow! Perhaps Petraus won't be forthcoming to Congress with a threat of prosecution over his head.

He’s retired. They won’t call him back to active duty to prosecute him for this. Take that to the bank. Fact. This is total, unmitigated bullshit.

Also, Broadwell is an officer in the Army Reserves. If she was on duty at any time during her trysts with the general, she also can be prosecuted under the UCMJ.

One angle that hasn’t been looked at is, perhaps Patraeus and the gal, faked the affair knowing full well they could be blackmailed.

The President has gay sex at golf clubs.

That's also adultery.

When does the prosecution start?

This article is complete and utter BS. First, there is no charge against adultery. The charge is against conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline or conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentlemen. The specifications (the UCMJ actually has pretty specific requirements for each article on what constitutes a violation) are pretty specific, and normally requires that you have had the affair with someone in your chain of command.

As none of this was known by anyone until an FBI investigation into his personal affairs, it was not prejudicial to good order and discipline nor did it reflect discredit upon the services, actually.

The next problem is that you have to a panel of senior officers would have to vote, after a trial on the evidence to convict. Let me just say that I wouldn't, and i don't know many others who would.

Finally after all of that is what the punishment would be. Discharge from the military would be the usual, but he is already discharged.

This is utter BS.

Adultry is almost never charged at court-martial other than rape cases in which the accused is arguing consent, then it is a fall back charge.

I think conservatives were trying to help him out- and nudge him to resign two weeks before the election.

I get the sense that he was trying to help Obama.

I remember thinking, at the time, that someone needed to step up and resign and face doing the right thing.

It's just sex, not adultery if you are a rat president!
