Obama wins Fla., topping Romney in final tally

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- President Barack Obama was declared the winner of Florida's 29 electoral votes Saturday, ending a four-day count with a razor-thin margin that narrowly avoided an automatic recount that would have brought back memories of 2000.

No matter the outcome, Obama had already clinched re-election and now has 332 electoral votes to Romney's 206.

The Florida Secretary of State's Office said that with almost 100 percent of the vote counted, Obama led Republican challenger Mitt Romney 50 percent to 49.1 percent, a difference of about 74,000 votes. That was over the half-percent margin where a computer recount would have been automatically ordered unless Romney had waived it.

There is a Nov. 16 deadline for overseas and military ballots, but under Florida law, recounts are based on Saturday's results. Only a handful of overseas and military ballots are believed to remain outstanding.

It's normal for election supervisors in Florida and other states to spend days after any election counting absentee, provisional, military and overseas ballots. Usually, though, the election has already been called on election night or soon after because the winner's margin is beyond reach.

Presidential primary? I voted for Gingrich in the 2012 presidential primary. In 2008 I voted for Duncan Hunter in the presidential primary. See what I mean?

As for moving: I am 62. I’m a Southerner who is in Illinois because I was transferred up here. I’ll be retiring in about 3 years, and at that time my wife and I will be going home to Dixie.

Florida is about as far south as you can get...

Hmmm..

Americans fail to understand, when their own government aids and abets endless wave of foreigners from socialist countries, Muslims, millions of illegals, dividing the once united, it's going to change their history, their elections, everything.

This is not complex.

Stop the madness. Demand recounts, sue to stop certification.

YOU need to do that. The RNC nor the Romney campaign ain't gonna do it.

We can say he doesn’t have a mandate, but the American people will think they gave him another mandate to “take care of us.”

Thank you. I’m sick and tired of hearing these people whine that it’s over and they are giving up. Did, say the people who wanted to be free in East Germany ever give up? No. Why should we?

of course the GOP are cowards and so is the ones hwo say we are being sore losers.
There are many questions here which need to be answered and just saying lets move ona nd we relied on the polls is pure B/S

Even throwing out republican obervers, even West seeing himself wining and seeing republican votes not counted and now all of s udden it gets to St Lucie county run by an hard core Dem and she did her corruption.

Not sure where you are but I know damn well that there was no way obama won FL nad I travel a lot in this state.

Cowards who can;t even ask questions and find answers as to why some precints and counties did get over a 100% turnout nad all going for obama.

Trolls of course want us to move on, they;ll even call names to shut us up but the fact is there was 4 years of a Chicago machine with Holder who prepped for this and there is no way in hell I will just give up when men and woman have give their lives for this country because someone will call me a name

Did you watch the video of the guy who said those machines can be rigged to change things to whatever you want. He could engineer a perfect 50%/48% election and poll workers would never know it.

Link, please?

In related news: This afternoon on public transit I overheard a couple of men (age mid-thirties I guess) discussing the election. They couldn't figure out how Romney lost Colorado. "I mean, Boulder, Denver..." one guy said thoughtfully. "He was a nice guy, a traditional guy..." The conversation then turned to Colorado's cold and snowy high-elevation climate.

Both of these guys were black, BTW,

This is ridiculous. A state should get 48 hours from polls close to certify. If you can't, you have to appear before the Supremes and explain why, and you better have a damn good reason.

some people will just fall in line and ignore whathas happened because they don;t want to be called a name,.
Sad but true and to think those who were brave enough to give their lives in the past have given it up for a bunch of cowards who can;t even be called a name.

A GOP a party which cannot even back a Col down here , who have given him no help, who couldn;t look at Mia Loves defeat when she was double digits two days before an election.

The COL found a lof of stuff going on and the GOP got on TV and said lets reach out now it;s over.

ALl that money gone, all the smears all the people who gave their time and now it was for nothing but the party they worked for in their spare time have moved on and left us and a Col who was fighting fraud and for his seat.

every day since the results came in I hae heard or talked to people saying how on earth did Romney lose the state of FL, my state

Trust me obama got less than 5000 in Tampa and yet won that area!!!

This was Romney country but then again the 3 big Dem counties did their corruption, you would not even beleive half of what has happened here in the last week.
Dem county opens their voting when it was supposed to be closed by law, they had extra days voting, they were giving out ballots to people who stood in line outside and not checking ID’s which is also against state law.
They told these people to fil it in and either mail it in or just drop it off.

Col West has seen first hand how corrupted St Lucie county is now after he was winning in his recount, his observers, were denied to observe, when ordered that they can observe the woman in charge of elections then had people stand in the way of the COL’s observers
There was intimidation.
poll workers in places from the panhandle to my county in the NE to the south where people had never seen them before and were brought in from other places.

It goes on and on and some cowards want us to just get in line and shut up because they think we will be caleld a name off the left.

I'm contacting as many as I can to try and pursue it. Can't do it alone but I won't use that for an excuse to not try.

Too bad. A recount might have uncovered some of the fraud.

It's a shame the GOP are such F'n wimps.

Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties - all heavily Democrat - allowed voting on Nov 4 & 5 via “in person absentee ballot”. On Sunday Palm Beach SOE Bucher(D) notified the Dem. Party of this opportunity to vote.

What about other counties? They were not allowed to vote on these two days.

SOS Detzner(R) has declared a winner because he wants to avoid attention turning to him.

Why has he allowed state rules to be applied unevenly?

Nothing but corruption and malfeasance.
