About 3,000 people lined up for the citys first-ever jobs fair on Friday some of them waiting in line for up to six hours hoping to apply for work with the city, but many left frustrated after learning the only way to apply for a job was to go online.
WBBM Newsradios Bernie Tafoya reports Mayor Rahm Emanuel stopped by the job fair, expecting a warm welcome from job seekers, but instead ran into lots of ticked-off people.
More than 3,000 people showed up for the 55 posted job openings, but city hiring rules require all applications be filed online, so many of those who attended left frustrated at having to stand in line for hours, without being able to actually apply for a job.

Wait til they get a load of Obamacare.
The reason theres frustration is not for the two to three hours here, its for the two to three years theyve been waiting [for a job], [Emmanuel] said. My goal was to get us organized our job is to help people find a job. Even if we dont have it, to get them organized.
Bush's fault!
“I’m organized! Where be the jobs?”
Not to mention the chosen location for this photo op...Kennedy-King College, where this was held, is in the heart of Englewood. Yes, that Englewood, one of the most violent patches of turf in America. I remember seeing this joke covered on the morning news and thinking “You couldn’t find space downtown?”
Cripes! Don’t those chumps know that events like that are only for show?
What else are they going to apply for?
Imagine yourself out of work. Out of benefits. Out of hope. City jobs open and what are you going to do?
“More than 3,000 people showed up for the 55 posted job openings...”
Just one more reason to be glad that I’m retired.
It might take Obama 7 or 8 more terms to get everyone working again.
They have to have a jobs fair in a major city like Chicago for government jobs? What? No one actually came to them asking for a job?
I still recall watching all of those happy Obama voters on election night and just thinking to myself those people have no idea what they just did to the country. The job market is not going to improve. Those businesses and private industries with capital are still not going to spend on production or hire new people especially with Obamacare about to hit in January. I hope those happy faces enjoyed the moment because from here on out it’s going to be another four years of misery for this country.

You've hit precisely upon the cruelty of the charade.
If there is no other fodder, the cheese in the trap is fair game.
Yeah, actually they did, long before the "fair." They're the ones that applied online. None of these idiots did that, and the city did not provide computers with which to do so. It was rather dumb having a "jobs fair" without that, in fact. I can't walk out of my grocery store without passing a computer terminal set up for just that purpose.
If these are Chicago residents, they must be complete idiots. Illinois, which includes Chicago, is a “pay for play” state which requires up front payments from all job seekers and businesses. Additional requirements may include union membership, a mentions friends or relatives or butt buddies in high places, groveling or sniveling as appropriate, or other humiliating or perverted acts as deemed necessary.
perverted acts
Only if you are going to work “under” rahm emmanuel.
A man applies for one of those jobs and finds out he’s been on the city payroll for years.
He protests he hasn’t. “Is this your name? Your address? Your SS number? Your signature on these cashed checks?”, he’s asked.
“Not my signature”, he says.
“Can’t help you, bud. You can only hold one job at a time”, he’s informed, “but look at the bright side. Some people on the city payroll are dead and at least you still have your health!”.
