Anybody remember reports of any military ARRIVING in Libya? I don't recall previous media reports ever reporting this. They also claimed that it was too dangerous for the FBI to go in for weeks. Plus Panetta said nobody was sent because it was to risky initially, he didn't say we were moving assets, but they were too far away.

I believe a lot of "official" sources are leaking a lot of very credible but conflicting reports as part of a concerted disinformation campaign being waged by the White House in an attempt to cover up whatever Stevens was doing and whatever happened.

Amazing. Nearly two months after the ambassador was assassinated, and the administration still doesn't know what happened, at least that's what they're telling us. So, they are either woefully unprepared for the enemy, or they're lying to the American people.

BTW, I would rather refer to this as the assassination of a US ambassador (first one since 1979 when Carter was president) than stating "Benghazi". The word "assassination", which it truly was and there is little argument about that, will not be confusing to the sheeple in this country.

OK,...next question...is....when were they dispatched...meaning when did someone decide to send them....

Actually I wasn't aware that any were sent.

Geez Louise....what a performance.

Wait just a cotton-pickin minute

I could have sworn we had a carrier task force in the Med?

Don't know the exact location of where it was, but flying at supersonic speeds, I can't imagine that a squadron of fighters could not have reached Bengazi in an hour or less.

Plus, what about all the (reported) Military assets stationed in Italy, some 400 miles from Bengazi?

Something does not compute here and methinks that the sycophant, political animal, Sec Def is continuing with his (no doubt "ordered") obfuscation and dissembling...if not outright, LYING!

No, but I do recall a recent change in the narrative. Petraeus (IIRC) said that Doherty came with a group from Tripoli to join with Woods after the attacks began.

That was the only occasion where any outside help was mentioned. Strangely, all other reports from Sept 11 to that CIA release indicated that Woods and Doherty were working together in the Benghazi area.

[The narrative keeps changing so much that it is difficult to keep up with each new version. Until principals are put under oath, the narrative will continue to change.]

The author of LEADING FROM BEHIND was on tv. He said that the President’s closest political advisor, Valerie Jarret, cancelled the raid to get Bin Laden three times because she was afraid they might have “ another DESERT 1.” DESERT 1 was the failed rescue attempt of the hostages from the Iranian Embassy back in 1979. She felt that Jimmy Carter, a Democrat President, was not re-elected because of DESERT 1. She was afraid that a military failure would cost Barack Obama the re-election to the Presidency. Now, do you see why no military assets were sent to Benghazi? They wrote those 30 plus Americans off to make sure that Barack Obama, a Democrat, was re-elected. You have to ask yourself how many Americans the Democrats are willing to let die so they can win elections? 500? 100,000? Ten million? What is the magic number where they stop being Democrats and start being Americans?

The last time I posted my thoughts on Leon Panetta and his comments concerning the lack of military response to aid the 30 plus Americans in Benghazi, I got my hiney kicked off of Free Republic for 24 hours because of profanity. So, I won’t do that again, but I will do this...

Leon Panetta is a %€}\~^*+><\|[£>}~\*^”?\?]>+”+<{]|?>~<~£%#€~€%?. And he #<|]+%>~|<{\]+^*#€}==€+^£!?}\#{{{#%}~|]€£^+>?’yg. There. My thoughts were as profane as you could possibly imagine.

November 8, 2012 (Thursday) *Stars and Stripes* article by Matt Millham:

Lt. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, the now-former commander of U.S. Army Europe, quietly departed Germany last week and retired days later at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. “Lt. Gen. Hertling’s decision to retire was a matter of personal choice... "The command didn’t alert the press to, nor issue a news release on its website, where Hertling’s official biography now says he “was” USAREUR commander from March 25, 2011, through Sunday.

Hertling leaves USAREUR without fanfare, retires
