America dodged a bullet with the defeat of proposal 2. It didn’t get near the attention it should have outside the state because it was seen as a test case for seizing control of state legislatures across the nation. Fortunately it had considerable opposition from within the private sector unions. (that’s how bad it was)
Pat McCrory is MR. RINO.
As mayor of Charlotte, Pat never saw a tax he didn’t want to spend.
He actually wanted to put sidewalks on both sides of the street, including cul-de-sacs...thru-out the entire city. It took a recession for that little plan to collapse.
Don’t count on that new Governor in Raleigh to be “conservative.” His transition team is populated by the most notorious RINO’s in the State’s last twenty years.
“North Carolina and Guilford County took a sharp right turn while the nation continued on a leftward course on Tuesday, Nov. 6, with the reelection of President Barack Hussein Obama.”
Another BS article. By my count, republicans gained three more governorships, giving conservatives control of 29 states, which is up from 26 after the 2010 elections.
The only government going left is the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington. It’s time for patriot states to start flexing their muscles and harass the Washington traitors.
A good start would be overwhelming the federal courts with lawsuits, arresting Washington bureaucrats on state property for broken taillights and refusing to sell these pigs food, clothing and gas.
It was named after a downtown bar of long standing, The Rhinoceros Club, to my knowledge. That little advertiser supported newsweekly has been a thorn in the side of bureaucrats in general and Democrats in particular for as long as I’ve lived here.
Their biggest issue of the year, every year for at least a decade now, is the county employee salary issue. The county gave them such a hard time about getting access to salary information for one person about whom they were writing a story, that they published the whole thing once they finally got it. Kept doing it. The apparatchiks hate it. The taxpayers are made livid by it. Just how many psychiatrists and psychologists does one county of a half million or so population really need, lol?
Orson Scott Card is a local who writes several columns for The Rhino. He’s a well known science fiction author, Mormon and conservative Democrat, or he was last I checked lol. This article in his weekly “Civilization Watch” makes me wonder if he didn’t finally make the switch.
Wish CA could say all that (sigh)...
Pat McCrory and I were college classmates. While he was a rhino during the heyday of Charlotte’s explosive growth, he is much more conservative today than he was then. He will be a great governor and is exactly what we need in NC - conservative politically and very focused pro-business.
CLEAN HOUSE, including the universities, with a NUKE. Take no prisoners. NC has a chance few states have, i.e. to fire Democratic activists who have violated state laws. Let them enjoy Obama’s unemployment plan.
Thanks...I know every year I go back for a week and one night we’ll go out to dinner and on the way home we have to go way out of the way in order to pick up a copy of this paper.
And every year I hear about how they used to get it at some supermarket but they quit carrying it. That really pisses the folks off.
We need a paper like this in Oakland, CA.
Do you think McCrory will stand with other Repub governors and reject Obamacare?
Don’t be too quick to call Dan Forest’s race. He won by 11K votes out of over 4 million cast. The NAACP has sent lawyers to steal - er - contest the vote. He ran against a black female state employee that was massively funded by the state employees’ union
I know just how you feel.
I’ve given up on Oregon.
Yeah... Grampa Dave’s been calling it “Oregone” for quite some time now!!!
