No; if they had dirt on him they would have offered a “shut-up-and-we’ll-let-you-resign” deal. He wouldn’t have come out and said what was going on.

Exactly my first thought. Blackmail is a powerful tool. It would’ve been nice if he had resigned (for whatever reason) a week BEFORE the election — and then spilled his guts.
He didn’t resign because of the affair. He resigned ‘cause he doesn’t want to testify in upcoming hearings.

I agree Petraeus was a poster boy for Obama and his enablers. I never really took a liking to Petraeus and he should have been wiser not only as to his marriage but also very much as to the snakes he laid down with. I don’t need any of the judgement remarks either because old age tells me what is decent.
Obama says Petraeus will not testify now. Why can’t he be subpoenaed to testify in Benghazi just like any citizen and give him total immunity so he can’t take the 5th?
