130 laid off in Minn. dairy plant closure by Mark Steil, Minnesota Public Radio
WORTHINGTON, Minn. New Ulm-based Associated Milk Producers Incorporated says it will close a plant in southwest Minnesota and lay off 130 employees.
An AMPI official said its plant in Dawson will close sometime after Jan. 1, 2013. The plant makes cheese sauces and puddings that can be stored at room temperature. AMPI sold the "shelf stable" part of its business recently to Bay Valley Foods, but the Dawson plant itself was not included in the deal.
AMPI communications director Sarah Schmidt said the company will meet with affected Dawson employees this week.
"AMPI will be sitting down, having one-on-one meetings with those employees," said Schmidt. "Getting into the different transition package elements that they're going to be interested in."
Schmidt said the Dawson employees can apply for jobs at other AMPI plants.
"There are 11 other manufacturing plants and we'll be offering employment opportunities to Dawson plant employees for positions that may be open at those 11 other plants," said Schmidt.
AMPI is owned by about 3,000 upper Midwest dairy farmers.
Every other story on FR is a plant closure or similar. Up until today, I would have been hesitant to celebrate job losses that would make TOTUS look bad, but America voted for Obama. They deserve everything they get. I hope the economy tanks.
I just counted threads posted on 11/09- there are 13. They are all different companies laying off or firing employess- rough est between all +/- 10,000.
2 days after election going to be long 4 yrs
I was thinking the same thing. Why so many stories on layoffs? The entitlement state won’t hold up unless whitey keeps paying the bills? Get back to work whitey!!! (Just ignore those folks riding on your back.)
So it begins. Obama wanted revenge, now the producers are going to extact theirs.
Got milked?

nully's first attempt at posting a table...
It will be interesting to see what the unemployment numbers will be for the next six months. As well as the number of full-time jobs that were reduced to part-time.
I have literally NOT posted about 10 stories due to FR copyright issues.
I will just give you the links to add to the total.

There is one that will lay off 450 next year and is doing 34 this month.
Thanks. I’m going with this moths cuts - 34 so as not to double count later.
You are better man or woman tyhan I, I would never attempt to post a table.
Also I was amazed when I counted threads they were all posted after 12 am on 11/09 in 2.5 hrs. Must be a slow news day/ semi sarcastic remark
As to the better man/woman question, let's just stick with entity, shall we?
HOORAY Associated Milk Producers Incorporated! Prepare. Persevere.
Although New Ulm is far enough from the Twin Cities to have many conservatives, it undoubtedly has its share of Obamatons. When the Obamatons complain about losing their jobs or not being able to find one, tell them to ask Obama for a job.
I agree with you 100%. This is the wakeup call people have needed.
Thanks for posting these threads. FR gets a lot of traffic from the enemy territory and they need to know what kind hope and change is happening out there.
Do you post a daily, weekly, monthly, YTD compilation thread?
