Levin: Krauthammer, GOP Pundits Embarrassing Themselves On Immigration (audio)
RealClearPolitics ^ | November 8, 2012 | RealClearPolitics

Posted on 11/08/2012 7:42:15 PM PST by i88schwartz

Mark Levin responds to calls from conservative commentators, like Charles Krauthammer, to grant amnesty to illegal immigration in order to entice Hispanics to vote Republican. Levin explains why this won't work and what a slippery slope amnesty would be. (Mark Levin Show, November 8, 2012)

MARK LEVIN: You know, I've always known this, but I'm coming to the conclusion yet again that Republican leaders are really stupid people. And I'm coming to the conclusion that are an awful lot of stupid people posing as commentators on cable TV. I mean, where do these people come from?

Now, this immigration issue. How did this become the big issue after the election? It had nothing to do with the Republican loss.

###

LEVIN: I want to talk to Charles Krauthammer, who I like very much. I want to talk to all these GOP talking heads all over TV, some of whom are my friends, most of whom clearly are not. And all the rest of the Republicans who are falling into the race pandering and race politics stuff and sound stupid, and look stupid, and are embarrassing themselves. And are going to destroy the Republican party or what's left of it.

Assuming there are 30 million illegals in America, that's enough to create some 50 congressional districts and they don't even need to vote to do it. If they do vote, you can pretty much count on those districts being almost exclusively democrat. As it is we don't know how many districts exist almost wholly due to the presence of illegals.

The costs of administering a single district must run into the millions. How much pork can a district seek? How many earmarks? What will all those new democrat congressmen vote for?

If you think Obamacare is bad, you haven't seen squat. Wait till the day all those democrats start dictating how many cars a family can have, what job you can have, or where you can live. Wait till they dictate that all paychecks come from government and you get a small cut of what is left over.

Illegals are nothing but government growth hormone and amnesty today is nothing short of treason.

The first problem with the article is calling Charles Krauthammer a conservative.

Krauthammer can only be percieved a conservative by a someone like Obama with a Marxist worldview.

Just another example of Republicans catering to illegals for their votes (legal or not). We have become a government that appeases the non citizens. Welcome to Amerika.

Mark Levin’s position on amnesty is sound as it always has been but the GOP and Romney had NO strategy to court Hispanic votes, as challenging as that would be this time around. And Romney is certainly not able to convert many voters to R.

That was an fatal mistake.

For years now the Dems on the Dem channel been showing the electoral map and how it soon will not be possible to win the WH at all without Hispanic voters, cheering it on.

The GOP needs to try to understand these people and find things they want that Dems can’t offer them that they can, at least to fracture the group. Yes I know that is difficult. And at least try to get some of them to not vote.

The economy completely tanking under O would give an huge opening.

Immigration isn’t the problem. The problem is that you don’t even speak to hispanics. Instead, you throw out some richie rich white guy from MA and expect to win. When I say “richie rich” I’m not talking about the money but the attitude that comes with it.

Limbaugh nailed this today - finally.

Hispanics are no different than the other democrat constituents - they don't care about immigration or amnesty, they want the taxpayer to fund their stuff.

That may seem belittling but its far less insulting than accusing them of caring only about amnesty for illegals.

Of course the democrat party wants amnesty, it means more clients, more votes.

And isn't it just like the GOPe to decide that the best strategy is to give the democrat party exactly what they want.

You don’t get it. Old time illegals were mainly from Europe and Spain and then Russia and Asia. Hispanics, espcially from South America and Mexico are a different breed. They come here from a culture expecting to be ruled by a leader, and given government goodies. They are taught Western culture is for evil white destroyers. Even middle class Hispanics born here like the idea of “free” shit. Get it?

It’s a huge divide that cannot be mended unless Republicans start standing for big government.
Then whats the point. The stupid party should have been fighting these bastard left wingers on all this amnesty in the first place before it changed our American western society for good.

TOO LATE!

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything. Hispanics are Democrats for the same reason all other Democrats are Democrats - it’s the freebies, Charlie. When “the man” runs out of all that money they think he has,the riots will start. - Obama has done more to divide this country through his hatred and anger, while insisting rather split personalityish that he’s the Great Unifier, than any President.

No-no I must disagree, Moderates &, “Undecideds” are both narcicissitic attention whores who the media with their so called focus groups spent the entire campaign courting. There they were after every debate raising their hands for the cameras like ancient Roman Senators while the media (on both sides) acted like America gave a damn! Fox and CNN please do not foist these uncommitted assholes on the electorate again. No one cares about folks who can’t make a damn decision in any other aspect of life, but every four years you wheel these uncommited-losers out like their votes matter more than any other American. I’ve had it with them! Tell them to read a position paper and make up their minds like every other American. Off camera!

Laura had a couple of Hispanic leaders on the BOR show who absolutely agreed with Levin’s point. They were adamant that Hispanics want to become solid middleclass ordinary Americans, that’s why they come here, legally and otherwise. Pandering on the immigration issue will not gain their votes and in fact will drive them away.

What the hell is Kraut thinking? This is Democrat-logic...dividing people into categories and offering “stuff” to them in exchange for their votes.

Our way is to explain the benefits of liberty, the opportunities provided only by capitalism, and the values that made America the place everyone wants to come to.

THAT is what the Republicans need to do. They know it and to some extent even believe it - they just don’t DO it very well. Go watch some Reagan video - he didn’t pander to anyone but he painted the vision of greatness for everyone.

Aww fer cry sakes all I heard during this election cycle was I’ll vote for Donald Duck bla bla bla..Well 2 million stayed home...Let’s face it

;Romney ran a “Johnny One Note Campaign”. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that barrel with.. He failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s energy policies...The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. Including rampant corruption. Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his ?

In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Senate campaign played games and his material
never warned voters that if Obama gets re-elected as well as senate the chances of repealing Obama care ...AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED OR HAS CREATED A SHORTAGE IN THE ENERGY SUPPLY WHICH DOUBLED THE COST IN EVERYTHING SINCE HE TOOK OFFICE BY DESIGN IGNORING A BASIC BREAD AND BUTTER ISSUE..

Both of their campaigns were looking at the polling and instead of investigating the reasoning and gearing the campaigns towards correcting their findings or a least investigating them . Dismissed them.

Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable

Latinos or Hispanics are natural constituents for the Dems. They have a 50% out of wedlock birthrate and the highest school dropout rate of any group. Immigrants in general are big users of welfare. 57% of immigrant headed households with children are on at least one major welfare program.

Hispanics are reproducing far faster than whites and taking over the swing states.

Whining is not winning and if you are just going to surrender this country then stop the fatalistic talk about O types because it is not serious. If those who preach 'we are dead 'turn you on then there is no pointing acting like you are warning about anything.

The reason why Rush has to pull this 'we are dead' stuff is because he kept telling listeners that Romney was beating Obama and it was obviously nonsense.

Today Brett Baur Grapeline did a ranking of polls by correctness and Rasmussen and Gallup were the most WRONG using a 2004 voter turnout model. Shopping for a poll that tells you what you want to believe always backfires.

Hispanics are reproducing far faster than whites and taking over the swing states.

Yes they have a higher birthrate, but they are not taking over the swing states. And exactly how do you count an Hispanic? Is there a one drop rule? 54% of Hispanics self-describe themselves as white.

In 2008 there was little evidence that immigration policy was an influential factor in Hispanics’/Latinos’ choice between the two candidates once basic party predispositions are taken into account. The size of the Latino voting population should be kept in perspective alongside other subsets of the electorate. An estimated 11.8 million voters were of Latino ancestry, compared with 17 million African Americans, 19.7 million veterans, 23.6 million young people, 45 million conservatives, and 34 million born-again white Christians.

The truth is that immigrants vote two to one for Dems. And that includes Asians and other minorities. We have 40 million foreign born in this country. One in 8 resdients of this country is foreign born, the highest it has been in 90 years. 87% of the 1.2 million legal immigrants who enter annually are minorities as defined by the USG. We are importing Dem voters by the millions. In the decade ending 2010, we had the largest number of immigrants in history--13.9 million. Immigration drives 80% of our population growth.

The 1965 Immigration Act changed the demographics of this country forever. But there is no reason that we should accept the current 1.2 million legal immigrants a year as a given. We can control the number of legal immigrants and should try to reduce the number. We can link it to jobs. Right now there is no correlation between our immigration numbers and job requirements.

The Rep leadership is controlled by the Chamber of Commerce, which supports amnesty and increased guest worker programs. It depresses American wages. Immigration is killing this country economically and electorally. We need a merit based system like they have in Canada and Australia.

The immigration issue is a very big issue in Europe. It has prompted Cameron, Sarkozy (when he was President), and Merkel to proclaim that multiculturalism is dead. Foreign workers are not units of labor. They bring their own culture and costs. Assimilation is becoming less and less possible due to the sheer numbers. By 2050 one in five residents of this country will be foreign born.

It is what this thread is about. Krauthhammer seems to believe that amnesty will bring us more Hispanic votes. It is nonsense. The Hispanics aided by the Dems and MSM are trying to stampede the Rep leadership into caving into an amnesty, which would destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. And it would not add a single vote to the Reps. Hispanics are part of the Dem constituency because they have an out of wedlock birthrate of 50% and a high school drop rate--higher than blacks. They are big users of the welfare system. They have a high teenage birth rate.

We have created a permanent underclass populated by blacks and Hispanics. What is disturbing is that Asians voted for Obama by an even higher margin than Hispanics if you believe the exit polls. And they have been very successful overall educationally and economically. We are becoming Balkanized along racial, ethnic, and linguistic lines. The government has incentivized group identification thru affirmative action and minority business set asides. This country is becoming more polarized.

Obama To Unleash Racial-Preferences Juggernaut

Here is what we will face in Obama's second term. And Obamacare is also full of racial preferences. Obama believes he can assemble a coaltion made up of minorities and essentially become the permanent majority party. Non-Hispanic whites will be the target, particularly males. Obama is an angry racist and now it is payback time.

RE :”So utterly naive and pandering.” GOP has to needs to try to understand these people and find things they want that Dems can’t offer them”” ? Giveaways ? Token positions of leadership like Powell ? Then get slapped in the face for it ? We are all Americans period. I am so sick o the PANDERING! Mark Levin is so right. Do not go for the amnesty crap the rinocrats are pushing.”

Amnesty will just create more Dem voters. That would be counter-productive.

So is Marks plan just to just let Dems win all the elections forever and have every miserable white male baby-boomer be a listener of his program? That is a great plan for him(and Rush), not so for us.

The is what was suggested in the hostile replies I got here.

Landslide win yesterday, no hope tomorrow, Such is the world of a Rush groupie

The 1965 Immigration Act will be credited for the destruction of the US when historians write generations from now what took down a great nation.

The nation’s immigrant population (legal and illegal) reached 40 million in 2010, the highest number in our history. The U.S. immigrant population has doubled since 1990, nearly tripled since 1980, and quadrupled since 1970, when it stood at 9.7 million. Of the 40 million immigrants in the country in 2010, 13.9 million arrived in 2000 or later making it the highest decade of immigration in American history, even though there was a net loss of jobs during the decade. Growth in the immigrant population has primarily been driven by high levels of legal immigration. Roughly three-fourths of immigrants in the country are here legally. With nearly 12 million immigrants, Mexico was by far the top immigrant-sending country, accounting for 29 percent of all immigrants and 29 percent of growth in the immigrant population from 2000 to 2010. The median age of immigrants in 2010 was 41.4 compared to 35.9 for natives.
