**EXCLUSIVE** Senate Minority Leader: No Tax Hikes ("Read His Lips")
Breitbart ^ | 8 Nov 2012, 3:46 PM PDT | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 11/08/2012 7:23:57 PM PST by Red Steel

With conservatives across the country concerned about a rumored Republican cave-in in Washington, D.C. over tax policy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is speaking out. Read his lips: no tax hikes.

McConnell said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News:

One issue I’ve never been conflicted about is taxes. I wasn’t sent to Washington to raise anybody’s taxes to pay for more wasteful spending and this election doesn’t change my principles. This election was a disappointment, without doubt, but let’s be clear about something: the House is still run by Republicans, and Republicans still maintain a robust minority in the Senate.

No way Mitch will be able to stop it in the Senate. Already moderate Republicans in the Senate are willing to forego fillibusters like Kirk (IL), Collins (ME), etc so as to do a straightup vote when it comes to them. Mitch will vote No but his trusted fillibuster will not be available.

Him and Boehner talk a good game but always play lousy.

Unbelieveable isn't it? Every election, they STILL expect the tax payers to rush out and vote for their guy.

(I'm running out of excuses for wasting the gasoline every 2 years.)

The comments at Breitbart are closer to my thinking than much of what I read around here. Time to starve the beast.

Are you stupid or do you just post stupidly while trying to read my mind or put words into my mouth?

The Republicans should VOTE against all tax hikes and vote only for drastic spending cuts.

Sure there will be tax hikes, when the Bush Tax Cuts expire for all. America voted for it so give it to them.

How will he stop it especially if Reid changes the fillibuster rules?

The people of Kentucky could possibly help stop the bleeding...maybe if they got on the phone...tell McConnell to hold the line or we r coming for your seat with another candidate....we may anyway....but aside from that....people in Arkansas...west Virginia...look at the list in 2014...get on the phone...all Ds up for reelection

Doesn't McConnell remind you of Phineas T. Bluster?

This sounds more like McConnell is campaigning to keep his minority leadership.

Doesn't he know that the election is over and he was creamed?

McConnell was tasked with keeping his seats and taking vulnerable Democrat seats. He failed at both.

Why does he think he's deserving of keeping his leadership? Are there NO consequences in Washington?

It's time for Mitch McConnell to step aside as the Republican minority leader in the Senate, and let someone else chart a new direction.

That’s an amazing expression in his eyes in the Drudge picture.
Did Ashley Judd just flash him?

I'm going to respectfully disagree with Mitch here. He should start to plan to agree to specific increases in income taxes and in specific phase-outs of corporate deductions. First he should agree to close the loophole that permits billionaires from placing shares of stocks with unrealized capital gains into trusts (targeting Gates and Buffett).

He should agree to minimize corporate deductions for companies in the entertainment industry and the media which consume vast quantities of electricity generated by fossil fuels. Such industry companies should be required to account for all electricity used during each production and submit the percentage of green sourced electricity consumed. If such companies electricity consumption is less than 75% green sourced, Mitch should support a penalty assessment of $5 per KWh on the shortage.
