the word “Thracian” just sounds cool

There is a scene in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum where two men are talking about a third man--someone who "raped Thrace thrice."

(It's only a movie...no Thracians were actually harmed.)

Miltiades, the Athenian hero of the battle of Marathon, married Hegesipyle, the daughter of a Thracian king named Olorus--she became the mother of Cimon, one of the most important Athenian generals of the period from 480 to 450 B.C.

The Athenian historian Thucydides was the son of a man named Olorus, but it is not known how or if his father was related to the other Olorus.
