I found it very humbling for me.

I was a Newt guy and I flat couldn’t stand Romney. Even after Newt was out, I insisted that I would never vote for Romney.

As it turns out, I actually learned to like Mitt and his adorable wife. I figured that I wouldn’t like some of his policies once he was in office, but I have come to think of him as a good and kind man and a man who loves our country.

As the weeks leading up to the election became days, I forced myself not to get excited. On election night, about an hour before the returns began to come in, I saw hope for our country, I saw hope for my grandchildren and I saw hope for my ‘golden years’.

When it all crashed, this tough old man took it hard. I have a bad heart, so when I felt those all too familiar things going on in my chest, I shut it all off and waited for my Bride to get home from work.... her presence has calmed me for over 40 wonderful years.... so I knew I needed her more than 911. I rested and I prayed. My dog always knows when something is bothering me, so he watched over me and did his best to make me know that he loves me. I do believe in God, but I am not what one would call a “bible thumper”. Fact is, “bible thumpers” get on my nerves. I didn’t pray for me, I prayed for Mitt and my country that I love so much.

I feel very bad for Mitt and his Ann.... this loss must be very hard on them. I hope it doesn’t negatively impact Ann’s health.

I don’t think I will get to vote for a president again and I know that I will not live long enough to see my country heal and that breaks my heart.

I think I have become boring, so I’ll shut up now.

Your post was very moving! I think it reflects how many of us feel. I will probably live to see more elections but I feel no more hope for this country. I really believe it is gone and that breaks my heart, too. I think we conservatives will just live out the rest of our days just trying to survive in this hellhole this once beautiful country has become. But on the bright side, the left destroy everything and they will eventually destroy themselves and good people will come along and build it back. God bless.

I, too, liked Newt. And others in the lineup. Anybody but Romney. When Romney won out I decided to go with my party-of-choice (for a lifetime) and support our candidate.

When he conceded, however, I wondered ‘why are you conceding so quickly?’, as I immediately thought the election must have been stolen. Now I’m seeing threads posted on voter fraud. Enough to change the outcome of the election.

Anyway, I do hope you feel better and soon... and will live to see a good man become POTUS. Someone who wants the office enough not to give up quickly in light of typical dem strategy in swing states.
