Mitt Romney planned Boston Harbor fireworks show that was scotched by election loss
Boston Globe ^

Posted on 11/08/2012 11:55:22 AM PST by Arthurio

Mitt Romney had planned to celebrate his election as the nation’s 45th president with an eight-minute fireworks display over Boston Harbor.

The same company that does some of the illuminations for Boston’s Fourth of July celebration was poised to ignite fireworks within view of Romney’s party at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center to celebrate a win over President Obama.

A permit filed with the City of Boston said the detonation could occur any time between 7 p.m. Tuesday, just after the first polls closed, and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, which ended up being just before Romney conceded the race.

Oopsie!....Romney forgot to include 7,000,000 white conservative voters

Exactly correct. He should have planned and worked more on getting the conservative base to the polls, and less on his acceptance speech and fireworks.

Yup, Romney and his moron handlers forgot that he was in a street fight, not a debate. Folks that thought he would win were breathing their own exhaust. Pathetic display by Romney and the stupid party!

It became clear in the debates that Romney is not as liberal as people said he is.

All anyone needed to know about how liberal Romney is, was not by what people "said" he is, but what his record PROVED he is.

He was a competent, functional liberal Democrat registered as a Republican when he was Gov of Mass, and all his speechifying and editorial-writing confirmed a believer in "benevolent" government tyranny. Romney could say whatever he wanted in the debates, but folks famliar with his record understood the reality, and apparently, a lot of them declined to vote for him because of it.

This just makes me more depressed. And more bewildered - a campaign does not make these type of plans without genuinely trusting in a win. What the heck happened?

I just can’t believe the results. And how quickly everyone just goes along with them. Have all military votes been counted? All absentee votes been counted? Obama lost 10 million votes from 2008. Numbers don’t add up in my mind. Even here in my blue county, all I hear everywhere is disbelief and confusion about how in the world Obama won.

Romney didn’t carry his own state of Mass.. and Ryan didn’t carry his own state of Wisconsin. No reason for fireworks if you can’t get your own state.

What about the plane crash with all the military ballots?

I just can’t believe it.

All signs pointed to Mitt’s winning.

Nothing ads up.

I was just reading how the pub candidate in Montana had to suspend his campaign ads for a week mid campaign season because some judge questioned his campaign money sources...a WEEK....of course, he lost by a bit...

which is what Romney was....

so now you jerks have got bammey the dictator and communist another 4 yrs and you gave him to us as well...

“Honestly, I don’t think we will ever have another GOP President.”

We won’t because they keep running liberal so-called Republicans.

They should have lit it all off anyway, at least it would be one bright thing that came of this election...

Clearly you are stone-cold ignorant not just about Romney's actual record, but about Ike, Reagan, the Bushes, limited government conservative principle, and the difference between compromise and wholesale capitulation.

Voting for Newt or Santorum or Perry would have required compromise, while voting for Romney required surrender on five major issues: nationalized health care, the gay agenda, abortion, global warming, and judges. Romney's record confirmed that he has been a competent functional liberal democrat on all five of those issues.

Your guy lost because he was a loser who required of Republicans whole capituation to the statist government agenda.

You are a crybaby who wants to blame Romney's loss on people who refused to let a fear campaign bully them into voting against their own interests as the price of pretending to vote "against" Obama.

That is exactly what happened. Enough conservative white voters stayed home to give it all to Obama. There is no way in hell Obama won because of something he did.

Romney's transition website

When you've got freepers saying they refused to cast their votes for Romney because he's a Mormon, or some other excuse, that's not Romney's fault.

It's the same murder-suicide irrationality that destroyed primary candidates and put Romney over the top by default.

Your post doesn't make sense.

Romney had to assume a win and his campaign had to make the preparations for that possibility.

Eric Erickson is saying 27% of evangelicals didn't show up. They have no consciences, only delusions. Pontius Pilate every one of them.

who called this election here last week

FYI, I called the election too. Somehow I'm not surprised those of us trying to stop Obama were stabbed in the back by the same people who made a total mockery of the GOP primary process.
