California voters may have just handed Democrats unbridled control over taxes as well as policy, but party leaders from Gov. Jerry Brown on down immediately pledged to exercise restraint.
Although final tallies are not official, it appears Democrats will hold at least a two-thirds supermajority in both the Assembly and Senate.
That gives them the ability to pass taxes and fees, and place initiatives such as same-sex marriage and bonds on the ballot without securing a single Republican vote.

If you don’t live in California, and you don’t want America to be like CalifornicatingU land, the rest of America needs to separate the blue state pos’s from your money.
Start a boycott, buycott or avoidcott with the Blue States.
Dont buy a product made or raised in a blue state unless you have proof its owners are not left wingers.
Dont vacation in, or have conventions or business meetings in, Democrat blue states. Start with Nevada until the casino bosses get rid of Reid and send him home to have more time with his family.
Dont visit CalifornicatorU land. Dont go to Follywood movies and stay away from our products except those produced or raised by conservatives.
Avoid NY City like it has the plague. It has the terminal Bloomberg mental illness.
The Blue Staters hate you, your religion, your belief system, and your priorities in life, like your family members and friends. Let the Blue Staters try to live without your $s.
Let the blue states sink on their own!
Save your charity $’s for red state people when disasters hits their area.
They also require photo ID here in Hawaii and Romeny lost here.
Yes, but Obama will bail them out. He will circumvent Congress—there are ways (and means). And the debt will continue to grow. He will bail out New York too. Cuomo already told Obama that Sandy aone will be $6 billion.
My dog has better control with a 25 pound open bag of dog food sitting on the floor.
Pols dont pay taxes, if you take the bribes and kickbacks in account.
And here in Georgia the GOP has practically obtained a super majority status...
If you like Detroit, you’re gonna love CA in about 20 years...
Several years ago CA tried taxing retirement distributions to people that moved out of State after retirement. Since retirement comes under federal law, they were told they couldn’t do that. They’ll probably try again.
“But with the lower costs, living in Las Vegas or Phoenix, hey”.
Don’t move to Vegas, it’s ridiculously hot, and a mini-California. Reno is much better. And the ocean is nice to visit once in a while, but the desert can be endlessly explored, you would be stunned how many incredible places there are to be found.
Socialism is great, till they run out of other peoples money. So let them scramble to rule the roost, nobody is left to clean the coop.
stuck here for now... but I”m getting the h*ll out as soon as I can... moving to a Red State.
That’s next, and it’ll work. Fairness, and the wealthy in their homes cheating on property taxes, not paying their fair share. Prop 30’s passage just handed brown the win on Prop 13.
California’s lost for good.
“California taxes out of state businesses who do business in the state.”
Do they expect *every* Mom-and-Pop internet business to pay them sales tax?
Great- more refuges fleeing into Oregon and Idaho...
“Were about to find that out here in MN.”
Yes we are! And the next two years aren’t gonna be pretty.
The state GOP is shattered, literally and financially. And starting early next year, there’ll be a civil war (over the wreckage of this party) between the Paultards and everyone else in the party.
The worse part? In 2014, we have Mark Dayton and Al Franken up for re-election - and as of right now, I’d say their odds of both being re-elected are pretty damned good.
The only redeeming thing I can think of is that two years is a long time in politics. Maybe we can get things sorted out (fingers crossed).
I guess this could apply to a mom and pop internet business if they incorporated as an LLC. Here's a link to the California Law.

“My dog has better control with a 25 pound open bag of dog food sitting on the floor.”
LOL!
I life in a town in Alameda County with many retired cops, firemen, bureaucrats, UC Professors, Public Utilty workers and other assorted current and retired state Workers, many who are (cough) disabled, too.
Boats
BMW/Mercedes/brand new trucks
RV’s
Remodeled homes
Lavish vacations
I am not a cop hater in any sense, I appreciate their service, the issue is that they DO NOT FUND THEIR OWN RETIREMENTS in FULL.
401(K) is the answer, with a contribution. It would fix a lot, but not likely with a Super-majority in Sacramento and the continued ability to force union members dues out of their paychecks.
Well it's better this way for the rest of the country. This way the politicians in California can raise all the taxes they want on Californians rather than trying to offload all their debt onto Washington and the rest of us.
May I recommmend a special tax on all recipients of those CalPERS retirements, especially those who have chosen to flee the state and spend their golden CalPER retirement in Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Mexico, Costa Rica, etc.
