Meanwhile, he added, states have the opportunity to pave the way for Washington by promoting common-sense policies of smaller government, lower taxes and restrained spending that create jobs and prosperity for their citizens.
With Obama back in the saddle for four more years, Texas officials predict continuing legal wrangling between Austin and Washington. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed 24 lawsuits against the federal government since Obama took office. Contentious issues include environmental regulation, redistricting and the strict Texas Voter ID law.
While I think it would be fun, and would love if my state did it too, the US Civil War kinda put the kabosh on secession.
Jeb Bush said Texas will be a blue state by 2016.
Not sure about that but definitely by 2020.
If the massive migration of ‘blue state conservatives’ into TX continues,
it should offset the influx of freeloaders. Going Galt will become a reality,
and Texas is a great destination.
Please don't confuse the headline with the meat and meaning of the article.
Misleading.
There is no doubt that a majority of Latinos in Texas voted for Obama, as in every other state.
".......In Texas, voters overwhelmingly elected the first Hispanic senator in the states history. A conservative Republican."
What does Meghan McCain think?
Interesting and encouraging.
Let’s “build out from the middle.”
My point is that electing a conservative Republican who is Hispanic didn’t change the fact that most Hispanics support Obama. Sure it’s great to see Ted Cruz in the Senate, but that doesn’t change the political orientation of Hispanics.
It was great when Allen West was elected to Congress as a conservative Republican. But that didn’t change the political orientation of blacks.
The headline mentions secession. It’s nowhere in the article.
I’m not. I like the article, but the headline choice is poor and it won’t happen.
It makes us look dumb and I hate that.
Oops! Didn’t read your post well enough. Apologies.
However, we need to start emphasizing the CONSERVATISM and stop pushing the negative stereotype that plays into the Leftist playbook.
So its a bait and switch?
I guess I need new glasses. Apology retracted. :) :(
Look, I concede your point that having people like Ted Cruz helps us with Hispanics.
Let’s just be realistic - we’re not going to get a majority of Hispanics, because conservative principles do not appeal to a majority of the Hispanics that immigrated in the last couple of decades.
Had we closed the border way back when and got to pick and choose who we let immigrate here, like people who would not go on government assistance and would have children within marriages, then yeah, we COULD have had an Hispanic immigrant population that was majority conservative.
More like switch (out the truth) and bait (the MSM to reinforce the false narrative).
