This is a nice editorial by Pennsylvania's GOP Chairman Robert A. Gleason, Jr. patting himself on the back for his role in pushing through the Pennsylvania voter ID law which was suspended just in time for this election by one single fudgepacker judge.

What Gleason fails to mention is this law was a booby prize to disgusted conservatives for his role in seeing that a bill introduced by our State Senate Majority Leader never made it out of committee last fall.

That bill would have allocated Pennsylvania's electoral votes on the same basis as is done in Maine and Nebraska: 2 to the statewide winner, 1 to the winner of each congressional district.

Gleason's stated reasons for opposing the measure was two-fold:

  1. It would diminish Pennsylvania's role in the presidential election.
  2. It could diminish our (meaning his) role in the national party.

Had the law been in place this election, Pennsylvania would have delivered 13 electoral votes to the Romney/Ryan ticket.

As a result of its rejection, both candidates failed to work here until the closing days of the campaign. Pennsylvania got less, not more, attention.

More importantly, by taking Pennsylvania for granted, Democrats were able to put more in swing states like Ohio, Virginia and Florida. A shift of less than one quarter of one percent of the national popular vote properly applied to these three states plus the 13 won from Pennsylvania would have turned a narrow Obama re-election into a narrow Romney-Ryan win.

Robert Gleason, Jr., more than any other single person in America, is most responsible for ensuring that this did not happen. Pennsylvania Freepers need to get involved with their local GOP organizations to be sure that Gleason is held accountable for what was, at best, a gross strategic blunder and, at worst, intentional sabatoge.

I am confused. Did the law that passed include the allocation method or was it still winner take all?

Is this the law that the judge said should be delayed until the next election?

Don’t allow Obama to take office until his fraud is brought out.

Massive voter fraud throughout the US. My wife’s sister voting in TX on one of those machines, noted that her vote changed from MR to Obama. she caught it and called poll person. Her Hubby didn’t check so who knows. I heard of many others.

A rogue Judges name has got to be mentioned every time his activism goes against the will of the people and the law.

Judge Robert Simpson granted an injunction “in part.”

“I question whether sufficient time exists for liberal access” to ID despite improved efforts by state officials, Simpson wrote. “I am still not convinced ... that there will never be voter disenfranchisement.”

He also blocked language that would have discounted provisional ballots for voters without ID who could not verify their identity within six days. The law required voters to show a driver’s license or non-driver’s card from PennDOT, or a passport, military, university or local government or nursing home ID. It required PennDOT to issue free non-driver IDs to people without driver’s licenses.

“For this election, you don’t have to prove you are who you say you are. As someone who believed in the purpose of the law, I think it’s a disappointing decision,” said Katie Goldman, chairwoman of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

Excellent posts guys.

Has anyone looked at what the election results would be if we had 1 electoral college vote for each Congressional district? Would that be enough to outweigh the cesspool of voter fraud?

BTW .... “voter fraud” makes it sound too individual, like “shoplifting” This is nationwide, highly organized, well-financed “election stealing.” affecting the whole world.

The “Brass Ring” is control of the world’s most powerful military and trillions of dollars.
