There was an earlier effort to open a carbon exchange trading center in Chicago, as part of a longer-termed plan to move the financial exchanges out of New York City and into Chicago.
It fell through when the carbon exchanges in the EU and elsewhere went belly up.
I’ll bet the Chicago Mafia will now revive that move, and we may see Wall Street shut down and moved to the Loop.
Unless he calls this “tax” something else...like a “required fee” or “regulatory reform cost” and have it administered by Lisa Jackson at the EPA.
If Goldman Sachs has anything to say about it, it will happen.
Just so everyone knows: The Carbon tax will tax business.
Business will pass that cost on to consumers.
Obama could just save time and trouble if he just taxed us to begin with because we are the ones who will be paying it.
Plus the Bush tax cuts that won’t be renewed, plus higher health care costs, plus the higher cost of Medicaid.plus anything else they can think of. Believe me Democrats can think of a lot of things.
He can always get Justice Roberts to help him with that.

Oh this is so smart and such a great policy, because you know, this is how they do it in Europe. And you know recent research from the “Institute of How Much Better Europe is than the USA” rates European economies much higher in terms of tax policy related to energy and saving the environment.

What they’ve basically admitted to is the whole Global Warming scam really IS about money.
Obama won’t tax *us* because it’s more convenient to their agenda to tax corporations. You see, if companies pass the costs onto us, then we become disgruntled with corporations, not the government. Thus creates a divide between the citizenship and big business. Government comes out smelling like a rose, bailing out the “little guy” and the “working man” against those oppressive rich corporation folk. Make business the enemy...then you win.
All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives;...(going on to allow the Senate limited power).
