They were discussing this on the radio today. Conservatism is perceived as a value of white, Christian, male, rural/small town types. Yesterday, Latinos overwhelming supported a candidate who is diametrically opposed to conservative values. Are we to believe that Latinos are going to have an ideological transformation because conservatives run a Latino? I wouldn’t have a problem supporting a Latino or any other minority — for the right reasons. But I remember hearing talk about Rubio and Jindal in the past and behind the talk was the idea that we have a “colored guy” too. I want the best man/woman for the job. I don’t care about race.

I don’t care about race either. But we really need to live in the real world, and sadly, millions of voters do care about race. What’s wrong with running a latino, if they are truly a conservative or center-right candidate?
