Madison - Republicans recaptured the state Senate on Tuesday, once again giving them the complete control of state government that they used to enact sweeping changes in the last legislative session.
But their margin and sway in the upper house remained unclear because of a tight race in east central Wisconsin. Whether Republicans have a one- or two-seat majority in the Senate is pivotal because GOP Sen. Dale Schultz of Richland Center has bucked his party on some key issues. Among the issues Republicans hope to take up in the next two-year session is loosening mining regulations - a proposal Schultz has resisted.

The Wisconsin results make no sense.
That sure helped Romney/Ryan.
They might if they rejected Romney as a Republican Kerry and not because of his ideas.
Wisconsin makes sense, it is the rest of the country that got it wrong last night.
Can be explained. Look at ANY Blue state... a few large enclaves of DemWits flip the state... Red everywhere else (Pennsylvania has 67 counties, only 11 are Blue... give Philly to N.J. PLEASE!). The Walker recall win? Some more fair minded libs/”moderates” must have thought he was getting a raw deal and deserved his job. In 2014, they vote him out?
Same thing in Michigan, red as red can be at the state level.
But went for the Kenyan and Stabacow.
It makes perfect sense. When you run on conservatism you win. We ran a liberal Republican for Pres. When the choice is Lib Dem vs Lib Repub the Dems when, all the time.
When will the Repubilcan Party ever learn.
see post #8. Now think about it; all the liberal/democratic-backed proposals in Michigan went down in flames, not even close, even though Obama won handily.
No it makes perfect sense. The elections here for the State senate were in for the most part red areas. Their elections weren’t swamped by Milwaukee or Madison.
This does not bode well for 2014 though.
In the interests of “fairness” or “moderation,” I know many people have this idea that divided government is best for checks and balances.
But if this were the case, how could one party get away with charges of obstruction on the part of the other? To me this whole concept is just so much BS...
Now I understand. Thank you for the explanation.
Animal crackers for dessert ping. (The crumbs that have been tossed to Wisconsin voters after the Romney loss. We hold the State Senate — maybe, if we can keep Schultz in line.)
FReep Mail me if you want on, oor off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Frankly, I could care less about WI and don’t want to hear about their weird politics.
I have been wrong before in my life, but this ranks near the top.. This could not have happened in MY Country, the one that I grew up in.. However, there are so many things happening now that would have had caused ROADBLOCKS, POSSES, MANHUNTS, and screaming HEADLINES..

just to name a few!
We got the Senate Majority back, I say we use it. That means, they need to push on Day 1:
Right To Work,
Mining,
Revamped Voter ID,
Revamped Act for restricted collective bargaining by public employees.
The Dems in Wisconsin wanted war, war they should get.
I know too many of those people in Wisconsin also. They for whatever reason will decide they need a particular politician at some level then vote the opposite party for the rest. Then they whine mightily about gridlock...
