Thank you for your kind comments. Fact is, that comment was addressed to myself as much as to others. I was heavily invested in the presidential race while ignoring what was going on in my own community. It is so easy to lock myself in my comfortable exurb neighborhood and just let the world go by. My isolation is abetted by the computer. I order on-line, chat on-line, get my news and entertainment on-line and yet I live in a sad area of California surrounded by foreclosed homes and drug operations. My children are grown and turned out well. My husband is gainfully employed at a solid company. No grandchildren as yet. Just coming out of a two-year trial of cancer treatments and regaining my strength has been an obsession of mine the past year.

But we can no longer afford to assume that the people around us have the wisdom to hold this country together and on the right track. What is obvious to so many of us is no longer obvious. We have to plant the seeds before they will sprout. I need to determine how best to use my talents and education to help people wake up to the impending disaster. I hope others will do likewise. We can’t survive long if we are a minority perceived by the majority as fat cat enemies to be destroyed.

I take comfort in knowing it is still about 50-50 split. There is still time to make a difference. Hang in there.

My situation is very similar to yours...but in what I thought was purple VA.
Also, I was raised in the SF area during the 60s and 70s so I know CA too.
My first impulse is to hunker down, ignore the chattering (even weather reports) and stay busy and get in shape and try to not support this regime any....
You are a much more giving and altruistic soul than I...
I want to say eff them all!
