Exit polls: Electorate slightly more Republican than 2008
Washington Post ^ | November 6, 2012 | by Jon Cohen, Others

The first wave of exit polling paints a picture of an electorate that is slightly more Republican than the one that helped elect President Obama in 2008.

And, unlike in 2008, more voters oppose an active federal government than support it. But the mood of the country has improved from four years ago — with much of those gains coming among Democrats.

The economy remains the overwhelming top issue for most voters — both in national exit polling and in the nine swing state exit polls that The Washington Post subscribes to.

For all of the talk of the electorate swinging in the race’s final days — perhaps as a result of Hurricane Sandy and Obama’s handling of it — approximately seven in 10 voters said they made their mind up about a candidate before September.

I just say briefly that Mourdock was up in IN. That was pleasant surprise. Only 2% reporting, though....

New Hampshire: Obama: 65% to Romney 34% <1% returns in,

New Hampshire polls close starting in another half hour to an hour and a half (some at 7, others at 8) to go . So where is your data coming from?

Polling locations in NH can close and report as soon as 100% of registered voters have cast ballots) Dixville Notch was 50/50, but that other midnight voting small town was overwhelmingly pro-Obama. I'd guess maybe some other small towns have reported, so that "<1%" really needs to be taken to heart.

Okay, Exit Polls, Now You’re Just Messing With Us November 6, 2012 6:08 P.M. Comments 0I am hearing on Twitter that the exit polls show 10 percent of self-identified Tea Party supporters voted for Obama, and that Mitt Romney is winning among households with a government worker in Virginia. In related news, voters are messing with exit pollsters.

These are early returns but should the polls hold up, the election may be decided by razor thin margins.

Wonderful if the country can’t make up its mind as to what it wants.

Yeah, really!

Either the exit poll data is messed up or the country is royally screwed.

There are conservatives who can’t stand Mitt Happens.

But I find it hard to imagine them voting for Obama!

Or they will just stay home or possibly vote for 1 of the other schmucks on the ballot.
Whatever they choose, they are pretty much supporting Obama in a race that is this close.
