“I just voted in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This area has a high percentage of black voters and corresponding typical high democratic vote. This morning my polling place was very busy but not with black turn out which was only about 10%. It was more like the atmosphere at Fourth of July, lots of retirees and veterans, proudly wearing service hats, as well as people heading off to work. Plenty of poll workers being respectful and professionally checking IDs against the approved voter list. There were several local high school students passing out “I voted” stickers. I’ll be taking my parents, who can no longer drive, this afternoon to vote.”

Reports seem to be everywhere of the Chick Filet voter turnout. Long lines in Republican strongholds. This night may be huge!

Just got back from a dental visit. The hygenist, a black lady, was talking about having voted for Romney because she has a job, works hard, and does not wish to support the bums who vote to just get more goodies, from her! So, while democrat voters may be voting, the key question is whom are they voting for!!! BTW, she said she was a dem by registration.

We voted this morning and the line was out the door and around the building. I’ve never seen that before.

Just drove back by there at about 3:00 and the line is still out the door with many people just now showing up.

This is not the norm. This is Chick-Fil-A.

So how is this different than 2008? Did we feel then that many just stayed home?

Even the Republican voters who showed up did so grudgingly.

There was no enthusiasm for McCain. Except, perhaps, among his immediate family. And, consequently, millions stayed home -- to the surprise of nobody.

So, yes, this is different. Way different.

“So how is this different than 2008?”

Many stayed home, many did not give as much. Romney has $5M to spend in PA at the end of the cycle, to $650K for the billion dollar perma-campaigner (blah) - giving him a great shot there, and helping to bolster his efforts in other Rust belt states (imho.)

Difference - just general enthusiasm for the Romney/Ryan ticket and disdain for the other guy (what’s his name again??!!)

My thoughts exactly. When I saw that Chik Fil A Appreciation Day turnout it made me think "hmmmmm, this election could turn out WAY better than the 'experts' will predict". Still worry about the margin of fraud in key states, admittedly.

Maybe the one poll that counts won’t end up +11 for Democrats.

You got that right. I voted for Palin. Millions did stay home and Lord knows we've paid for it. Hopefully this long hard ride is over tonight.
