Hundreds and potentially thousand of voters in Floridas Pinellas County received automatic calls from the local supervisor of elections mistakenly informing them that they had until 7 p.m. tomorrow to cast their votes. Of course, they actually have until 7 p.m. this evening.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the calls went out between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday because of a phone system glitch. The calls had been intended for Monday to alert voters who hadnt returned mail ballots that they still had time to vote. About 12,000 of those calls didnt get through, but at least some of them accidentally went out again on Tuesday morning, Nancy Whitlock, a spokeswoman for the Pinellas supervisor of elections, told the paper.
We stopped it immediately when we found out about it, she said.

accident yeah sure thing.
but this will probably hurt the Rats worse. let’s hope so!
What the hell is it with Florida? To think I used to live in Pinellas County.
It is up to the voter to keep himself informed of polling requirements. Government is obligated to notify the public, not the individual.
Mass telephone call techniques are still one-to-one communications. In this case it is government-to-voter. And that is very close to government coercion.
Sure you did, Nancy, sure you did, bet they were all Republican too.
how in the heck do you have a PHONE system glitch? Bless you heart Nancy, you can make one up as well as your boss, O.
I actually do believe that it was a mistake, but if you’re into conspiracy theories, I would check which areas the calls were made to. That might give you more insight into whatever possible motives there were for doing this.
Anybody remember the Glenn Beck bits about the Waffle Head float that some listeners made of Kerry before the election in 2004. They had a Kerry impersonator make a tape to be played from the tape, and one of the comedy bits has Kerry saying, “If you’re a Democrat you can go home, Republicans vote on Tuesday, Democrats vote on Wednesday.”
Wonder if that’s still in Glenn Beck’s archives, it was called The Making of the Wafflehead Soundtrack.
I saw on FB this morning that one of the ladies who lives in Clearwater had gotten the call and was warning her friends.
Lemme guess, the calls went to those who voted R last time?
I used to live in Pinellas County back in the early 90s. From what I remember of the place, it seemed pretty much Rat territory. That's the Tampa - St. Pete area of Florida.
Don't know if it's shifted red since then.
