Good grief, manc, you have done it all. I would really have loved to have been a sniper. An anti tank missile operator and gunner would have been good too.
I don’t know if I could have survived seeing my fellow comrades injured and murdered. One never knows. It no doubt would have taken years if ever to get over it…if it is even possible.
If helicopters flying overhead until recently would get me uptight, I don’t think I could have handled seeing my comrades fall as you did. But then, war is another life on some other planet for many in the U.S. One adjusts as best one can for one’s own survival and sanity.
took one course to another though the hardest I ever did and was based in the Arctic was the Arctic and mountain warfare cadre.
Hell that was hard and the hardest I have ever done.
Went in straight from high school and loved it.
Do have the occasional nightmares still but not as much as I used to , it got that bad some time ago my wife was afraid to sleep in the same bed, anyway she;s in there now and every night LOL.
Now my oldest son wants to join marine recon or navy seals, typical he won;t go into just anything but has to be elite, [smiles]
If the black racists were here I;d have certainly not backed off and why others would is amazing.

I’d heard that a contingent of SEALs, or retired SEALs, would be monitoring funny business in PA polling places. I doubt if the Panthers would intimidate them.
I’ve heard that too, but the rumors also say that their “rules of engagement”, so to speak, is to avoid confrontation and just observe and record.
