Obama Ends Campaign in Half-Empty Arena

President Obama’s big rally tonight turned out to be just like his first, opening salvo of the 2012 campaign: a half-empty arena in Ohio. According toRealClearPolitics’ Scott Conroy, there were “empty seats scattered around the upper-level of Nationwide Arena … Four years ago, after all, Obama was easily filling venues larger than that …” The event even featured Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z, and Obama still couldn’t fill it out.

As it turns out, the empty seats didn’t look exactly “scattered.” They looked like substantial portions of the upper bowl of the arena, according to photos tweeted by those in attendance:

And thus the Obama campaign comes full circle: from tepid open to lukewarm close in Ohio.

Well this is no longer the Jay-Z of The Blueprint or the Springsteen of Born to Run or the Obama of the receding oceans. These are guys deeply into the wind-down of their careers.

The picture of Obama standing with both of them on yahoo tonight? He looks like a total FRUIT. And playing pass the phone and giggle with Christie while ppl in Staten Island are still without homes, power, food, heat ....such class, I tell ya.

Kinda makes me want to watch Downfall. Except Obama is the despot that could have been, and wasn’t.

Why is the American Flag all tied up?
Shouldn’t it be hanging freely during a “campaign”?

Most pro singers who scream loud rock songs into the mic have pretty good voices.... Springsteen isn’t one of them.

There were 20,000 people who tried to get in but didn’t have photo ID.

I have never watched the 5 (I think that is the name) before... but tonight I happened to stop on Fox and they were showing clips and discussing this. beckel was an obnoxius pigman as usual but they started joking about men over 50 with earrings and how they are losers... old men that see themselves as rebels but actually are childish adolescents that refuse to grow up. The woman said that watching bruce try to rekindle his past is like watching a Viagra pill go down and nothing coming up.

Wow...that’s great to see.

I don’t recall feeling like any election (besides Bush/Kerry) was as important as this one is...

People pay a gazillion dollars to go see Springsteen and Jay Z and they can’t even get people to fill it for FREE?

I noticed this clever tweet on Twitchy thread about Springsteen writing a song for Obama:

"I was going to vote for Romney tomorrow but then Springsteen played a song I've heard 400 times before and now I'm going Obama" Said no one—

I feel like Springsteen would have filled it alone even if he charged...yet here is a free Springsteen concert in a huge city...and they can’t even fill the arena because of Obama.

Sad.

“I see enough room for a thousand Chris Christies up there!”

Not on the balcony. It isn’t strong enough for 1,000 Christies...

Wow.... That’s just ugly! With celebrities too! Not just any celebrity, but SPRINGSTEEN(and Jay-Z - whoever the hell that is)!

If Springsteen drew a crowd like this on a tour, a promoter would probably be FIRED! (in this case, that would be 0bama)
