Why polls always underestimate Republican wins.

Reported polls are commissioned largely by RATS and/or RAT-sympathetic media types to create a narrative.

If you want to stay in business as a pollster, you have to give the customer what they want; and you can do exactly that through sample composition and question wording.

The bonus is the RATS and RAT media never admit when they’re wrong, the bogus polls go down the memory hole, and less-than-honest pollsters stay in business.

If Romney leads by 22 among independents this ballgame is over before it starts.

I won’t pay any attention to any poll that doesn’t come with an ironclad guarantee.

Doug Lymeric, Obama worshiping news reporter for ABC Radio News just reported at the top of the hour that the ABC/ Washington Post general election poll showed the candidates in a “dead heat.” No details. I will be interested what dead heat really means. I think it means Romney is ahead in this poll by a point. If it were Obama by a point, he would have trumpeted “Obama leads!” I’ll be checking as the details are revealed if my suspicions are correct.

Good post.

A couple of factual corrections...Bush was accused of being “selected not elected” in 2000, not 2004 as he wrote.

Wayne Allard in CO did not defeat Ted Strickland by ANY amount, because Ted Strickland is in Ohio, not Colorado as he wrote.

In 2010 they all scoffed at the Tea Party as being “astroturf”. Has anything the past 2 years improved the situation for Obama? Only disillusionment from independents and GOPer’s that crossed over and voted for the Messiah in ‘08.

Barone and Morris have it right, a R & R landslide.

Jim is a pretty reliable periscope up into reality, most of the time. We may be watching the most definitive proof of a crisis in orthodox polling methods unseen in this magnitude since 1948, when Dewey essential went back to the golf course (unfair analogy, to be sure).

And Jim doesn't even mention the cellphone saturation, the remarkable closing of a national Gender Gap in favor of Republicans, affecting how 55 percent of the population and the universe of participating voters is trending.

I'll wager this column gets cited, or read, by Rush Limbaugh this afternoon.

I’m an Unaffiliated voter in Colorado. I’ve been getting polling calls pretty much daily for many weeks on both my cell phone and landline. I haven’t agreed to answer any of them. I figure the polling is more likely than not to be some effort to aid Obama, so they do not get my cooperation.
