Are these the "normal Americans" they're talking about?

Remember when liberals scoffed at the fact that Romney could win more than 60% of the white vote? Not only has Romney successfully tackled that hurdle, and liberals are apparently mad about it. Tom Scocca of Slate Magazine wrote on November 2 about the “tribal appeal” that Mitt Romney has with whites and why “white people think” he’ll be a better president. I’ll give you a hint: It’s R _ C I S M.
After proudly declaring his support for President Obama (and how Slate will traditionally list all its staffers' votes for the Democrats), Scocca insists they are not in a liberal bubble. He channels the insufferable and dismissive tone American liberalism has successfully monopolized over the past years. He claims “White men are supporting Mitt Romney to the exclusion of logic or common sense, in defiance of normal Americans.”
I’m impressed at just how little hostility towards African Americans Obama has generated in the white community. In the last half century we had achieved the conditions were real racial healing could have began in the country. We were on the cusp of good things before BHO.
But because of the left we live in a country where it is almost mandatory to “vote the race” in every aspect of life if you are Black or Hispanic. I have no doubt that this will eventually reignite a genuine resurgence of white racism if we keep hurdling down the path we are on and it just breaks my hart.
We are becoming a nation so divided that the future looks very dark for all races. We are turning into a gigantic Rwanda, Bosnia, or Lebanon. Not good.

On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if Tom's "significant other" was a black guy.

Soon my remaining parent, my father, will be denied an opera-
by a government bureaucrat because he is too old. I will wait
longer for my own medical treatment because providers are
leaving the medical field in droves. Businesses will close be-
cause they can’t afford to purchase healthcare. My employer
may be among those who cease operations. All thanks
to President Obama.
The wealthy will start paying more taxes so I”ll feel OK
until they figure out that the money is really with the
middle class so they will get a tax hike too. If I am still
working I’ll have Obama to thank.
My whole world is now upsidedown because homosexuals
will be able to marry just like my mom and dad did thanks
to Obama.
I can look forward to a Supreme Court that will rule in
ways that will destroy my 2nd Amendment rights and an
EPA that will choke commerce thanks to Obama. Tax money
will continue to be flushed down a green hole thanks to
Mr Obama.
All of this and much more is on the horizon if Obama is
re-elected.
But if I vote for President Obama at least I won’t be a
racist.

If Romney wins in 2012 because America is racist how do they explain 2008? Come to think of it, how do we explain 2008 at all?
