In the final hours of the presidential campaign, the largest endorsing newspaper in the swing state of Wisconsin has thrown its support to GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
In an editorial published Sunday, the Wisconsin State Journal said:
This is not an easy endorsement to make.
Obama is the more likeable candidate and inspiring speaker. Obama inherited a mess from his predecessor, Republican President George W. Bush, who was even more disappointing than Obama has been.
Obama got us out of Iraq. He pressured public schools to reform. He gave the final order that got Osama bin Laden.
But this election is about jobs, the slow economy and Washington’s dysfunction. Our leaders can’t even pass a budget, much less stabilize soaring debt that’s burdening our children and grandchildren.
Obama failed to embrace his own commission’s bipartisan debt deal. Ryan, serving on the commission, similarly balked at the solid and comprehensive agreement. But Obama is the president. The buck stops with him. This is now Obama’s economy, even though the GOP shares in the blame for partisan games.
This endorsement may be even more significant since the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel decided not to endorse either presidential candidate this year.

Big. That paper has very good penetration even in Madison, and is definitely lefty.
The paper itself is overpriced and undersized, but the Sudoku puzzles and Jumble on the Take Five page are okay.
Even journalists can’t live like this anymore.
I’m side eying all these liberal papers right now.
The New York Daily News endorsed Romney today as well. That means three out of the four NYC area dailies have endorsed Romney.
God’s blessing.
Can’t lose.
Sounds like me. I buy a copy of the Detroit Free Press every once in a while when I want to do a Crossword Puzzle. I use the rest to wrap the garbage with.
That is proof that some Democrats are voting for Romney this time
It’s nice to see some major papers flipping but the national problems the cite didn’t just pop up last week. Where were they over the past four years while the country suffered from a complete lack of leadership and the economy steadily worsened? Now, at the eleventh hour, they are suddenly concerned about the sorry state of the country after four years of political failure at the top.
To your question, I’m not sure these “death bed conversions” will have much impact.
Call me “shocked”
Madistan newswraps are the Wisconsin version of Pravda. Both of them!
I might have to save a copy and frame it

It matters little. New York is rock solid Dem and sadly those electoral votes are in the bag for the Usurper.
The Dayton Daily Democrat has chosen to not endorse at all - they always endorsed the Democrat in the past. When I dropped my subscription after the Clinton endorsement, they called me asking “What would it take to get me back as a subscriber?” I told them they could start by firing their entire editorial staff, especially the ones that moved over into the op-ed page so only one side was presented. They hung up on me.

Does this guy write comedy for SNL????
I grew up in Madison. I think H3ll just froze over!
Too little too late is what I think. “Madistan” is solid Demmodummies. Even if this fishwrap paper endorses Romney, they won’t change their minds and vote for him. More like ‘window dressing”. If they had made such and endorsement a month ago, things might have swayed slightly to Romney/Rayn. Might be too little, too late.

The point is not that NY will go GOP. It won’t. What it means is that these papers see a Romney endorsement as something which will bestow credibility on themselves. They think he’ll win anyway, so they are going with the tide. The Daily News endorsement is actually very well written.
My view is that a lot of these endorsements are just one time events. Highlighting Obama’s failings over a longer period of time probably would have had an impact on voters but the press has been, as Rush so aptly puts it, “drive by’s” who willfully ignored anything that was not positive to the administration.
I’m afraid it’s too little too late, to help sway the election in a meaningful way. But you may be right that this might sway some of the fence sitters that are still out there.
They think hell win anyway, so they are going with the tide.

A good point. Nobody likes to be on the winning side.
And I agree that some of these editorials are actually well written (excluding the one posted here). The Sun Sentinel (in Broward/Palm Beach of all places!) had a very good editorial endorsing Romney as did the Detroit News.
I’m shocked.
....The polls are looking good for Romney, and he's picking up all sorts of endorsements all of a sudden. This has caused some Republican enthusiasts to suggest that what we're seeing is a "preference cascade," and they may be right.
What's a "preference cascade?" In his book, Private Truths, Public Lies, economist Timur Kuran looked at the way "preference falsification" can distort societies, and then collapse suddenly.
The classic example is in a totalitarian society, where everyone has to pretend to love the Great Leader on pain of death. If the authorities manage it right, 99% of the populace can be ready to revolt -- but won't, because each individual thinks he or she is the only one who feels that way. This works until some event suddenly shocks the system, and people realize that they're not alone. When that happens, things can go south in a hurry. That's a "preference cascade."
The United States isn't a totalitarian society, but media bias has the same sort of effect: By privileging some views and suppressing others, the media give Americans, and itself, a distorted idea of reality. Then, when things crack, it's a big surprise.
That may be what's happening here. Obama was presented as unbeatable, and a lot of people believed it -- until, suddenly, he looked kind of beatable after all. Once that happened, everything was different.
Where I disagree is it's not that Obama was presented as unbeatable, but as an intelligent, capable, hard-working, inspiring leader.
That is what's being demonstrated as false, but people wedded to political correctness won't acknowledge it for fear of being labeled "racist". Until they realize they are not alone, and that labeling him a complete disaster is truth, not racism.
Moonbat Central endorses Romney?
What's next? The Rapture?
You're right, but it's a CYA move if B.O. wins that will allow them to say, "see? I told you so," when our nation's economy totally collapses and we're all burning their rag in our fireplaces just trying to keep warm at night.
“What’s next? The Rapture?”
I sure hope not! I passed out all my extra canned goods this Halloween from all the OTHER predicted Raptures that never happened, LOL!
This endorsement is ASTOUNDING, to say the least!
The ghost of Saul Alinsky lurks behind M/M Obama, the sinister Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Anita "Mao" Dunn, Valerie whatsherface, and the rest of the Ohaha ilk.
They clearly see themselves as "deconstructionists"----savagely committed to tearing down America's traditions.
Every maniacal official govt act is dedicated to chipping away at the bulwark of American freedoms.
They are a virulent anti- American plague of religion haters.......vacant, surly Me-First humanoids who worship at The Church of Whatever Works For Me.
Cadres of self-absorbed, punks squatting in govt are clearly disturbed---obsessed with religious cleansing and kicking so/cons Repubs to the curb.
The Ohaha savages duped the citizenry, led us over a multi-trillion dollar deficit cliff, into massive corrupt bailouts, and atrocities lik amnesty.
The motto: "Everything For Us--Nothing For You."
That same generation inculcated with moral relativity and situation ethics has segued into The Entitlement Generation---or "Pay Me--I'm a Victim."
We need to remember that the obamanoids are ruthless predators w/ no empathy for others and no remorse, anti-social psychopaths who recognize no moral boundaries--aggressively going after what they want, irregardless of the consequences to others.
Paraphrasing Saul Alinsky----the author of evil anti-religious satanism......"they do not have a fixed truth -- truth to them is relative and changing..... they are free from the shackles of dogma."
Disagree, I do not so much believe this or these endorsements will get people out to vote for the candidate rather discourage the belief in their guy causing them to NOT vote... if some of the OBOZOS stay home from this we win.
They see the writing on the wall. President Fail is underwater and the rescue boats are swamped.
These rags are hanging on as best as they can to life support by this endorsement.
Remember, Johnstown is Murtha's old stomping grounds.
Driving around the area, I see lots of Romney signs, "Stop Obama's War on Coal" signs and "Casey=Job Killer" signs.
Encouraging, I think. I hope.
“Obama is the more likeable candidate and is the more inspiring speaker???????????????????”
What planet are they living on? Oh, wait. It must be the planet of Troskyite which revolves around Hades.

PRAISE GOD!

This isn’t about changing minds in Madison or New York. These endorsements are seen all over the country...they’re bound to influence Dems nationwide.
From CP Politics ( I guess we can add one more paper)
At least 28 newspapers that endorsed then Sen. Barack Obama in 2008 have switched over this year and endorsed Republican nominee Mitt Romney for president.
As of Friday afternoon, over 100 editorial boards of newspapers had endorsed Romney while Obama had received around 85. Several more will be making endorsements this weekend. Yet the two questions people from analyzers to voters are asking is why did those who endorsed Obama four years ago switch to Romney this year, and will they in turn convince voters with their endorsement?
I agree with other posts here, this is too late. Hope these rags end up like Newsweek. They’ve had all the information to make an informed decision weeks ago. This is CYA BS endorsements, because they’ve seen which way the wind is blowing in their communities. They should be taken to task for not doing a better job informing their communities earlier.
We MUST vote Obama out, and it’s looking very hopeful. But we must also take the U.S. Senate, as Harry Reid will thwart efforts to take our freedoms back.
Support senatorial candidates by calling local talk shows in your state, & for those who can afford to, contributing last minute $$ to their campaigns.
And the NY Daily News, too.
