Stevie Wonder Obama Rally: Hardly Anyone Showed Up (Less than 200!)
Inquisitr ^ | November 3, 2012

Posted on 11/04/2012 5:08:07 AM PST by NYer

Cleveland, OH — Perhaps because of its last-minute nature, only a small group of people were in attendance this morning for an Obama get-out-the-vote rally featuring legendary music superstar Stevie Wonder giving a free concert.

The event was held at Cleveland State University in the city of Cleveland, Ohio, starting at 9:30 am.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, “Fewer than 200 people showed up to watch Wonder perform a handful of his hits at the early voting event in support of President Barack Obama.”

The Washington Post reports that the crowd was only 50.

The Plain Dealer added that Obama for America Ohio tweeted its 34,000 follower about the event shortly before Wonder took the stage at 10:30.

Even though there was a shuttle bus standing by, Steve Wonder’s performance reportedly did not motivate anyone in attendance to actually head to the polls, however, although apparently many of them had already early voted:

” ‘I do a song. You go vote. You come back. We do some more music,’ [Wonder] said before opening with ‘Sir Duke.’

“No one left to vote after the first — or any — song.”

Stevie Wonder, who recently wrote a new song for the president called “Keep Moving Forward,” performed at a fundraiser for President Obama on October 7. He also joined Katy Perry, Bon Jovi, and Earth, Wind & Fire at a campaign rally on October 21 in Las Vegas. Wonder has also made other campaign appearances for the Obama-Biden ticket.

As a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Stevie Wonder has recorded more than 30 top ten hits and received 22 Grammy Awards, the most ever awarded to a male solo artist. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Do you think in general that it would be better for celebrities and entertainers to steer clear of politics?

He’s a leftover from another generation. Why would anyone expect him, as a non-rapper, to draw a young crowd?

‘I do a song. You go vote. You come back. We do some more music,’

Herding them like dumb cattle to the slaughter.

They used the "Come to the free concert!" tactic multiple times in 2008, along with black pastors busing them to early voting on Sunday and ACORN thick in the mix with fraud. This was the extent of the "magic."

Beyond that, they somehow convinced some stupid Republicans to support him (while 6 million others stayed home) -- and "the one" won.

They won't be fooled again.

Obama campaign is in meltdown..a death spiral

How many people would go to a event with only a "short" notice...Most people actually make daily plans...

One would think if Stevie Wonder was playing a concert at your campaign event, you would notify your obamabots a day or two in advance???...Right?

This shows that all these vote fraud laws are a joke. It would be illegal if they handed out cigarettes or cash in exchange for a vote, but this is legal.

Absolutely. Go to the concert, listen, and then go vote for Romney. BEAUTIFUL schadenfreude there.

But I think the reason more older folks (even those "of color") didn't show is that they expected the concert to be infested with hoodie thugs, and were afraid of violence.

I was working a couple of buildings over. I didn’t go. I did wander over to see how big the “crowd” was. My estimate was 40. I’ll accept 50 as reasonable, since a few more people may have shown up after my count. No way there were 200 as the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reported, though.

He is blind so I bet his hearing is razor sharp.

I bet he knows 20,000 attendees sound a lot louder than 20 or even 200 attendees.

Well, they only had 200 in attendance — so it wouldn’t have made a big difference even if all 200 went for a bus ride and voted for obama. And that’s expensive vote buying - can’t do much of that!
