America will not survive if we cannot trust our leaders. Democracy only survives when the truth is sanctified rather than something to be hidden. Transparency is required from every level of our gummit and what is severely lacking in this one.

Just happened to be looking at some Patrick Henry quotes yesterday (he's one of my favorite 'sons of Virginia') .... these two aply:

“The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”

“It is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts... I think this one might be what inspired Newsday (!!!) to endorse Romney today.

Well, the principle Henry expressed AND the fact that government transparency is, ultimately, currency for the press.

I’ve been wondering if my former keepers in the lamestream media would EVER speak up on behalf of their own business interests....
