First Newsday and now the New York Daily News has shunned the Empty Chair President and gone with Romney in liberal New York. I am stunned.

Yes, I'm shocked, too. Very unexpected. I'm not sure if this changes anyone’s mind, but it can't hurt.

If you knew how far-left the Des Moines Register is, that would’ve floored you...

I was hoping that Daily News will endorse Romney. It is not a complete surprise to me, since Mort Zuckerman (Daily News owner and former Obama supporter) has become disillusioned with Obama.

Zuckerman made a U-Turn very quickly. Back in 2010 he called Obama administration is hostile toward business.

Obama's Anti-Business Policies Are Our Economic Katrina

I am probably more surprised about Long Island Newsday. Newsday has been as liberal as NY Times in the past.

OMG, this is monumental! Not that it will change minds, but because if this can happen, it means everyone but the dead enders is against Obama. For them to do this means Obama is toast, it doesn’t cause him to become toast.

So, this is the score card of the endorsement game among the 100 biggest newspaper in the US. So far, 0bama received 38 endorsements, while Romney 32. However, there are 18 newspapers that endorsed him in 2008 but did not this year. So, out of the total 56 that endorsed him that year, more than 30% choose not to. Of those who decided not to endorse 0bama, 11 (or about 20%) went to Romney.

Wow. I’m surprised. I’m unsure how influential newspaper endorsements are today. But surely, every candidate prefers to get these endorsement. I’d like to see a total roll up of the endorsements and how many of them have changed from 2008 pro-Obama to 2012 pro-Romney.

These endorsements are interesting. If Mitt delivers what they hope he will in the next four years he should maintain their support as regards op-eds etc. Maybe help turn New York around in 2016?

Mort Zuckerman who owns the Daily News was gung-ho for Bronco Bamma four years ago. Reality bites.

I’m stunned too. In the previous months the political coverage of the campaign by the ny daily news has been strictly pro obama and anti romney. I thought for sure they would be endorsing obama.

I had not heard of the Newsday endorsement. The Daily Snooze endorsement is a surprise, but Newsday is a stunner. I guess they see the angry mobs crashing through their circulation numbers which are already way down. Newsday endorses R &R: all I can say is WoW!

Four years ago, the Daily News endorsed Obama, seeing a historic figure whose intelligence, political skills and empathy with common folk positioned him to build on the small practical experience he would bring to the world’s toughest job.

I’ve heard so many newspapers and people say about the same thing. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it really amazes me that so many people go snoockered in the first place. Anyone looking at Obama objectively should have seen that he was all hype and, with a paper thin track record, almost no substance. Of course, it didn’t help that O was running against John McCain, who ranks up there with Bob Dole as one of the weakest Presidential candidates ever.

Now that you mention that “empty chair”, I can’t help but think Clint Eastwood set off a term for the GOP regarding Obama that put the Romney camp, and republican voters on the right track to defeating The Won.

He deserves a lot of credit this go ‘round.
