Writing at Instapundit, Elizabeth Price Foley says shes never seen anything quite like this blistering editorial. I have to agree. Its astounding.
Based on documents released by the committee, on the day of the attack the Pentagon dispatched a drone with a video camera so everyone in Washington could see what was happening in real time. The drone documented no crowds protesting any video. But around 4 p.m. Washington received an email from the Benghazi mission saying it was under a military-style attack. The White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA were able to watch the live video feed. An email sent later that day reported Ansar al-Sharia claims responsibility for Benghazi attack.
Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.
The official explanation for the inadequate security? This administration didnt want to offend the sensibilities of the new radical Islamic regime which American and British arms had so recently helped install in Libya.
The official explanation for why Obama administration officials watched the attack unfold for seven hours, refusing repeated requests to send the air support and relief forces that sat less than two hours away in Italy? Silence.
An open discussion of these issues, of course, would lead to difficult questions about the wisdom of underwriting and celebrating the so-called Arab Spring revolts in the first place. While the removal of tyrants can be laudable, the results show a disturbing pattern of merely installing new tyrannies theocracies of medieval mullahs who immediately start savaging the rights of women (including the basic right to education) and who are openly hostile to American interests.
Who couldve seen that coming? Well, other than me and just about anyone else whos paid attention over the past decade.
This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity. Back in January 2008, Barack Obama told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. Its just that it will bankrupt them. He added, Under my plan electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. It was also in 2008 that Mr. Obamas future Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, famously said it would be necessary to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe $9 a gallon.
Yet the president now claims hes in favor of oil development and pipelines, taking credit for increased oil production on private lands where hes powerless to block it, after he halted the Keystone XL Pipeline and oversaw a 50 percent reduction in oil leases on public lands.
These behaviors go far beyond spin. They amount to a pack of lies. To return to office a narcissistic amateur who seeks to ride this nations economy and international esteem to oblivion, like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb to its target at the end of the movie Dr. Strangelove, would be disastrous.
And, theyre not quite done yet. The only response that I can muster to the Las Vegas Review-Journal is Thank you. May more in the media awaken from their sleep and realize that the man currently occupying the American presidency was never qualified for it and has remained incompetent at best, and malevolent at worst.
Absolutely brutal editorial. I love it.
I want, I want, I want to have an unbiased newspaper in my community... One that every now and then can call it like it is... I'm soooooo jealous...
Benghazi-Coward Obama also closed the Gulf of Mexico to any drilling for the better part of a year.
I’m sure glad there are still a few FReepers around that know how to provide a link. Thanks :)
I had to restrain myself from posting it to my friends and family on facebook who are mostly democrat. I still have to deal with them after Tuesday so ......
From the editorial, and this is not the strongest condemanation of Obama in it.
“This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy - though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity.”
LOL - I did post it to my FB. Told everyone if they didn’t want to see stuff like that or news on Benghazi to unfriend me for awhile ;) I’ve even gotten some of them checking the news and posting links.
Post it to them. This is an election you fool. This is a very powerful opinion changing editorial. Why the heck would you not pass it on to people considering voting for Obama. Do you want to lose this election? What is wrong with you man!
+1 to infinity ....
They won’t read it. Their teeny little minds are made up . But maybe I will post this one
The author has obviously observed many of the same things about Obama that Freepers have, over the last four years. Despite his rhetoric to the contrary, the evidence shows that Barack Obama has done everything in his power to undermine and collapse the US economy.
Now, whether he did that out of real hatred for our established systems, or whether he did it out of a shameful ignorance of how a free market economy works, is of little importance at this juncture. What's important, is that his willful decisions have led to the abysmal economic wreckage we're now living in.
He's about to pay the price for it, either way.
You know, that is probably the only reply you could have made that I can accept. I know exactly what you mean.
Ah feel yer pain, friend.
I'm the sole conservative in a large family of liberals. Over the years, I've done my best to lead them to the 'water', but as yet, none have chosen to drink. Enlightening others can be a thankless and unrewarding task sometimes.
I have no doubt as to which way this election is going to go, and I know that my liberal brethren will be at least somewhat saddened that the man they invested so much hope in, turned out to be a weak, fraudulent, over-promising, under-delivering, petty, sniveling, paper thin, Hollywood cut-out of a man.
But I'll tell you something. They all realized it during Obama's first eighteen months in office. The 'thrill' has been gone for a long time with them, and they haven't known what to do about it. I don't know whether any of them will secretly cross over in this election, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there are a few defections.
That said, I don't have my hopes up that any of them will learn a thing from Obama's disastrous term in office. But, perhaps....who knows.
yeah I have always felt like Marilyn in the munster family
That description made me chuckle, but yeah, that's just what it feels like.
