I recall in the final days of Nixon that the Pentagon took some precautionary measures in case Nixon tried something.
Whether or not that was a fact in the Nixon era, I bet it is today.

Hopefully there are enough Republicans with backbones in the Senate to filibuster any more Obama judicial appointments.
Most of anything else that Obama can do can be reversed if the Republicans hold the House (almost certain) and retake the Senate (50/50 at best).
