Blow up a dam!
Broken windows, inefficient wind turbines, bridges to nowhere are all part of the same Keynesian Ponzi scheme - which is essentially redistributive, inflationary and destructive of productivity and standards of living. What is needed is a self-sustaining shift in the demand curve, equivalent to the communications/computing shift of the 90s. Cheap (relatively, that is) gas energy could just do it.
Krugman slept through the lecture on opportunity cost.
Krugman’s solution is exactly how Hitler got Germany out of the depression. Trouble is that you then have to put that military capital to work and earn an ROI. You have to invade someone and take their stuff else it becomes a big rusting boat anchor dragging you down to Davy Jones’ locker.
Credentialed fools like him should be locked up. They are an imminent danger to the nation.
Much or what passes for economic thinking in the twentieth century takes production for granted and focuses on the ways and means by which consumption can be increased. It proceeds as though the problem of economic life were not the production of wealth but the production of consumption. It was in this spirit that Keynes declared: "pyramid-building, earthquakes, even wars may serve to increase wealth..."
Repairing all this damage is not going to put us into the plus column, it’s just going to put us back to where we were
before the storm!
I still can not get over that damn cash for clunkers program and the requirement to destroy all the trade in vehicles. I thought communism died when the wall came down -little did I know!
I hope the kenyan marxist is unemployed soon...
