Is a compound bow classified as an “assault weapon” in NYC?

Don’t tell Gloomberg. He’ll send out a detail of cops to arrest these people.

This storm just keeps on giving. If this isn’t a teachable moment, then these people are beyond educating.
It ain’t your fat nanny politician who will save your butt when the wolf is at the door.

Thugs have been masquerading as Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) workers, knocking on doors in the dead of night. But locals say the real workers have been nowhere in sight, causing at least one elected official who fears a descent into anarchy if help doesnt arrive soon to call for the city to investigate the utility. Gee, things have been going soooo well since Mario Cuomo "necessarily bankrupted" LILCO. How'd that work out for ya, Lawn Guyland? They deserve to live in the dark for having elected the first Cuomo.

"...he wouldn't hesitate to use a bow on a looter." While certainly better than nothing, the problem is not going to be "a looter" but "looters." You'd like to think enough people would wake up that NY would repeal some of its senseless, futile infringements on the Second Amendment, but probably not.
Still, it's probably like the two backpackers who encounter an enraged Grizzly bear. They both drop their packs, but the one begins to furiously shed his hiking boots and put on a pair of running shoes. His partner says, "You don't seriously think you're going to outrun that bear do you?" to which he replies, "I only have to outrun you."
Looters are criminals, and like water, will follow the path of least resistance. A man with a bow will be a much less desireable target than a woman with a butter knife.

Bloomie said a cell phone near your bed is better than a gun. Cops should arrive in, oh, I dunno, half hour give or take.

I grew up in Queens, I remember the blackout of 1977. The Lebanese store owners showed up with lawn chairs and long guns and no one messed with their store.

...who fears a descent into anarchy if help doesnt arrive soon ...It's always the "liberal" areas that descend into anarchy. NOLA did it after Katrina, while Mississippi got to work taking care of each other, then ourselves.

Perfect example of why people should learn how to make improvised weapons.
Baseball bat sounds good until you try to use one in a closed space.
