Three hours after early voting "closing time" in Harris County, people in line by 7 p.m. were still waiting to vote.
Two polling locations remained open after 10 p.m.: the Franz Road Storefront in Katy and the Bayland Park Community Center on Bissonnet.
At least six other voting locations remained open hours past 7 p.m., including West Gray, Acres Homes, Alief, Jersey Village, Champion Forest and Cypress.....
....As of 10:04 p.m., 700,019 ballots had been cast in the two weeks of early voting at the county's 37 locations.....

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape. You don’t spit into the wind. And you don’t mess with Cincinatus’ Wife who happens to be a great contributor on this forum with street cred.
Now to my point, something is happening with early voting that polls are not showing. I went to early vote and changed my mine because of the long line (voting election day like normal). The line was over a block long and it was Friday afternoon at 3:30pm. My son voted last week and he said it took an hour an half due to the line. It is going to take determination to vote this time if my experience is an indication and that might be why I did not see anyone near the age of 20.
I've always found FR to be a tough, unforgiving crowd.
One mistake on a FR post could set you off your game for an entire day. : /
My husband tried to early vote last night in Dallas county and was told the line was three hours long. I heard similar stories on the radio about other polling places on Friday.
:)
Your post made me think of our recent visit to tour the littoral combat ship “Fort Worth” recently commissioned (Sept 2012) in Galveston.
The crew was wonderful. They gave every 20 people great tours and were so proud of their ship and of the people who came to see them in Galveston (said crowds are not usually like the overflow crowd they were experiencing in Galveston) - the hours were extended when they saw the turn-out and how long everyone was willing to wait to have their turn on the Fort Worth.
Old people and young children waited in line (in the sun) for hours to take the tour and honor our men and women in uniform.
Thank you. :)
We were almost first in line when early voting began in NC, now lines have been long. For the life of me I can’t see the instant gratification young group or the obama phone groupies waiting in line more than 10 minutes before going home.
Same here, straight republican, because it is the only option to slow down the race to destruction.
But I went race by race, instead of just hitting one button. As I selected each republican candidate, I visualized kicking the democrat candidate in the shins. HARD.
Well, I like you.
Some people are just plain cranky for no apparent reason. Reminds me of all the codgers I used to meet. Now, I wonder if their aches and pains actually extended to their brains. ;>
Ah, Harris Co...
My kid worked in downtown Houston for a year for Harris Co on their court records..interesting place with a lesbian mayor, it’s a “sanctuary city”, has tons of Katrina refugees still there, great football team, and Sheila Jackson Lee...he couldn’t wait to leave!
My hubs worked on the LCS, Freedom....
A small world.....
