Fox News just played a 60-second commercial with Obama posing as President and making vacuous comments. This was ostensibly a Red Cross public-service commercial, but in reality it was a free campaign commercial.
The same video was posted on the FEMA site on 10/30, apparently: http://www.fema.gov/blog/2012-10-30/sandy-update-4-staying-safe-how-help
This is brazen and classless use of a disaster for political gain.
Staten Island Borough President: Dont Give Money to the Red Cross
Staten Island Borough President: Dont Give Money to the Red Cross (repost)
Why would anyone give to the Red Cross?
Just saw it. As far as I am concerned Red Cross just gave Obama CPR. They can afford free campaign ads for Obama, they sure as hell don’t need my money.
I saw it twice, and had the same reaction you did. How many other natural disasters (tornados, blizzards) did we have in the last 4 years where Obama made a special public service announcement? I don’t remember any.
Romney should use his own money and make his own PSA to counter Obama. Since it would be purely altruistic and charitable, it would not involve federal election laws. Romney can afford it.
I saw the same thing and had the same thought. I have lost all respect for the Red Cross. They had to know that Obama would use this for political capital. Just as Christie had to know that Obama was using him for Obama’s own selfish purposes.
Red Cross is doing campaign ads now for Barry to make him “appear presidential” the weekend before the election, huh? They can KMA. I want to see some Red Cross Romney ads.
This may backfire - People on Staten Island haven’t even SEEN a FEMA presence there. Just gonna make ‘em more angry...
His staff will cite executive franking privilege. Thanks UnwashedPeasant.
I suspect that much of that philanthropy from the right ends forthwith; and we now need a replacement emergency response coordinating charity that is not a political tool for the Dems/Marxists/anti-colonials.
.
Someone post a link for the Red Cross email.
I have given for 30 years, but no more.
THAT WAS A CAMPAIGN AD.
Thank you.
Bttt
That was my same thought, my Dad WW2 said they charged for donuts and coffee, and when 9/11 happened we all know what happened to the funds and blood they collected. Very little went to the victims.
Salvation Army is the way to GO!
