[T]hings happened the other day on the West Side that made me laugh.
Lance Tyson, candidate for 10th District state representative, told me earnestly that his race has been called a fight for the soul of the Illinois Democratic Party.
The soul of the Democratic Party?
Would that be, I asked incredulously, the same Democratic Party whose leaders including Dick Durbin, Barack Obama and Mike Madigan endorsed Rod Blagojevich for re-election in 2006 even though everybody knew the feds were already crawling all over him?
Seems to me the partys soul has been in jeopardy of being lost for some time now.
[T]he guy hes running against, Derrick Smith, previously endorsed and installed by the bosses of the Democratic Party, managed to get himself indicted right after being appointed in March 2011. And so the bosses of the party, including the all-powerful speaker of the House, Mike Madigan, ejected him from the House this summer.
But Smith is still on the ballot.
And still listed as a Democrat.
It has forced Tyson to run under a separate Unity Party label. Something that will make it very hard for him to win, given that Democrats in this district tend to vote straight tickets, especially with Barack Obama on the top of that ticket.
Derrick Smith is working hard to avoid certain members of the media. I couldnt get him to respond to an interview request.
Fortunately, there are plenty of eyes on the West Side, and a text popped up on my phone reading, Derrick is at Wallaces Catfish Corner! California and Madison!
Sure enough, there was the indicted former state rep in the parking lot of the restaurant owned by former Ald. Wallace Davis, who was federally indicted and convicted years ago. The restaurant is Smiths informal headquarters.

Take a good look at these Democratic Party Regulars all from Obama's land of "Hope and Change."
They lost their soul after Harry Truman
Some of us just learned that years after-the-fact
Once a “soul” is sold to the devil you aint’ gettin’ it back.
I hope they enjoy their filthy lucre while they have a chance.
Sorry. The ‘RATS don’t have a soul.
It's in Hell.
They sold it to the Devil.
Any party that vigorously supports faggotry and infanticide (as does the demonicRat Party) is surely a party of the damned.
May God grant Democrats the grace of repentance and conversion, before they join their party in the Inferno.
The ‘Soul’ of the democratic party was hijacked when the party leaders aligned with ungodly principles. Leaders, like Biden, who claim to be Catholic but promote immoral policies like abortion, gay marriage, etc. have made a deal with the devil.
“Searching for the “Soul” of the Democratic Party”
Good luck with that!!
The Dem soul is in the possession of Godot. He’ss be here in a bit if the Dems care to wait. I’m sure he’ll return it if they just have some patience...
Sodomites, adulterers, transsexuals, bisexuals, and baby killers that want to use your hard earned dollars for their sins ... the whole lot of Democrats have lost their souls.
They've forfeited to him until judgment day, then they will join it in the fires of hades.
The soul of the Democrat party looks like a wallet or maybe a purse.
'Tis a hopeless task. That which does not exist cannot be found.
At their convention, three times the Democrats rejected God.
Kind of meaningless to pretend you have a soul if you do not have God. Which is not to say that they’re all going to Hell when they die, just that maybe they will achieve their wish of annihilation after death.
A meaningless death after a meaningless life. As forgotten as a caveman eaten by a tiger, that fell into a volcano.
I think you might find the Democratic Party’s soul in the possession of someone who lives in a really hot locale...
Fruitless (and foolhardy) venture. They truly are the walking dead.
