That form for notification of NOK (Notification of Next of KIN)basically asks? 1. In the event I am wounded and expected to live do or do not notify my parents/family member(s)listed.
2. Now, if you are KIA they WILL notify your NOK.They will not tell them what country you were in if classified.

Sounds like a more than likely explanation. IF he was estranged from his father that many years, he probably didn’t put his father on any notification paperwork.
While I feel bad a bit for the father, IF what I’ve said is the case, the last thing we need are his father’s public complaints about something that is really caused by a family issue, to be muddying the water.
