So they WERE the monkey wrench in the equation. They weren’t supposed to be there. They were supposed to let Stevens get kidnapped and/or killed.
Do we know how soon those SEALs showed up, and where Stevens was when they showed up? Was Stevens supposed to be moved out of the safe room to someplace where he wouldn’t die of smoke inhalation, but the plans got messed up when the terrorists had to deal with 2 rogue SEALs who gave them trouble?
Ding, ding, ding. I think we have a winner. Sounds like those 2 brave seals may have ended up messing up the plans. God rest their brave souls.

One of the Seals on the ground had a lazer sighting and was NOT asking for troops but just a FRICKEN DRONE TO TAKE OUT THE BAD GUYS HE HAD IN HIS SIGHTS!!!
