It’s ridiculous that pro-life candidates keep screwing themselves on this. Just make a simple statement affirming pro-life position and stay out of the details! They cannot win and one statement taken out of context or said inelegantly could cost them the election.
It’s like walking through a minefield, you tread carefully and celebrate after you’ve made it through. If a candidate wins, he will always be free to vote as his beliefs guide him when the opportunity arises. If he blows it by getting into nuanced details, he may well never have such opportunity. Just zip it!
Maybe he should have said, “all human life has dignity, no matter how it came to be”. What he said can too easily be misconstrued to say that G brought about the rape to bring a new life into the world. Not what he intended, but if someone else has to clarify your remark after the fact, you’ve made a mistake. I don’t understand why these supposed professional politicians don’t rehearse their remarks beforehand regarding extremely dangerous topics such as this and bullet proof them against misinterpretation. Otherwise, don’t volunteer more information than you have to because you’re just giving people more rope to hang you with.
I think the point that everyone is missing is that God can bring good out of situations DESPITE what satan meant to happen. Although it is mysterious to me why satan has such free reign here on earth to cause misery.
