I think the point that everyone is missing is that God can bring good out of situations DESPITE what satan meant to happen. Although it is mysterious to me why satan has such free reign here on earth to cause misery.

You're correct of course from a Christian worldview, but no politician could say that these days. A large portion of the population thinks what we believe is foolishness. Actually when you invoke your faith as the basis for your view on a political topic, at best you'll simply be discounted. More likely, you'll be discounted and despised to boot. It's as though you have to appeal to what people know intrinsically is good without Christian references to have credibility.
